• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First Day os School

Edit: Title should be "First Day of School"

Remember when you couldn't wait for the school year to end? You looked forward to summer and all that free time with no homework to do. Then by the end of summer (we had a whole 3 months!) you couldn't wait for school to start again!

I picked up my 4th grade nephew from school today. They had a half-day today then will start their full schedule. He was so excited about it. He knows most of the kids in his class, likes his teacher and just talked non-stop all the way home.

I brought back memories of yearly new-starts -
  • new people (ours is an Army town and there are always new kids)
  • reacquainting with kids from previous classes
  • another chance to make a good first impression on the new teacher (and ride that as far as you can before she gets to know the real you) :lecturef_smilie:

You've forgotten all the drudge of daily homework, and look forward to learning something new, getting another step closer to . . . 5th grade . . and middle school! You can't wait to get grown up and then . . .
Well. . . that's no fun. :banghead:

Oh, to be a kid again! ;)

to be honest i hated school. the best part of it was getting out at the end of the day. i am a hands on learner and never really enjoyed reading books and studying. most of my grammar school was being thought by strict nuns so that might of been a big part of hating it. but if i could turn back time i would.

Yes, that brings back memories of those school day years.

Next week, regular school will start here in Alaska. A week later, the universities will be back up and running. Enjoying a three week hiatus before I can get back to the teaching end of it.

We always starte here about mid-week after Labor Day...
I didn't care much for the place. Although I confused a lot of folks; they thought that I REALLY liked the Principals Office a lot! :D

Start here next week. Don't have any kids in school.

I wasn't really fond of school. Back then (elementary) my report card almost always said something like "inattentive" or "doesn't listen". Nowadays that's called ADHD so we'll give him Ritalin. Junior high was a little better. Senior high, couldn't wait to graduate. Finished school with a c- average.

Move on to college (while active duty). A lot better. Finished with a 3.70 GPA. What a difference when you're older.

My wife just took a teaching position in Las Vegas. They start the 25th of August I think. We will be moving from Pa. Her now me in November. I didn't like school all that much. Tried college for a year and it wasn't for me.
