first 114 mile ride

well today i rode 114 miles, the bike seemed all over the road and bounced me big time, i never had this problem on my 13 with all the problems i had with that. even my friend behind me said the ass was bouncing all over and i had the rear shock almost down to nothing.

my first MPG was 34 miles per gallon compared to the 26 i got on the 13, now when i got the bike, now as far as tire pressure goes, when i left the dealer i asked if they checked the tire pressure, and they said yes and that set it for BRP recommendations, 15 in the front and i forget what he said for the back tire, so now as soon as both me and the bike cool off i am going to check tire pressure and make sure i put 18 to 20 in the front and 28 to 30 in the rear, i am hoping this fixes the problem i had today being bounced all over the road.

i am also glad i ordered the hand brake and i didn't follow through with the idea i had about building up the floor board. b4 i went out this morning i taped two hockey pucks to the right floor board so i can keep my heel on it and be able to use the food break pedal, as soon as i got to where we were going i took the pucks right off the bike, it felt very uncomfortable for me so please send that hand brake fast. i will go out again tomorrow with the new air pressure in the tires and i really hope that is the problem i had today. i will let you know later what the tires are set at now.

I hope the air pressure works
I have 22 in front and30 in back
I have my rear suspension set in the middle
I have not had a laser alignment yet
But I will have one as soon as possible
I do feel the handling in the turns is not as get as my GS, but I just installed the Baja Ron Bar and that improved it
You need this bike to be great after all the problems with the 2013
Good luck
Don

Let the Bellyaching Begin!:roflblack::roflblack:

Once you get the tire pressures sorted out; maybe a laser alignment is needed? :dontknow:
How do you like the much lower operating rpm and lack of heat so far?

Hello John. Tire pressures at the 18-20 for the front and 28 for the back seem to be the recommendations from most.

Set your airshock on the 2nd to highest setting. That works pretty good for me. To soft a setting may be an issue. :dontknow:

I hate to mention this because you are a pretty smart guy. Please forgive. Over control will make the new :spyder2: feel squirrely as heck. Yes, I did it a couple times also, when taking some twisties fast and when encountering some severe wind buffeting.

The magic "light touch," recommended tire pressures, and a stiffer shock setting should all help in making your new ryde "the best."

You may actually have to relearn the new ACE 1330. Specially the shifting and gears.

Keep us posted. The mpg is an improvement and should get to high 30's after a few tanks of gas. I am still looking for that elusive 40 mpg.

Right now I have my computer desk apart so I am working on that. I did check the front tires and they were a lil low so now they are at 20 PSI and will check the back as soon as my desk and computer are back together and running. I will have the laser alignment done as soon as I can. Bust next couple of days with densest and doctors

I (or rather the bike!:roflblack:) also seem a bit squirrely on the road. In my case it's the way they have changed the DPS. The way it is now, you think about the ditch, you're in the ditch!!!:gaah: When I turned in the demo earlier this year and came back and drove my 2011 it was like hauling a mack truck around without power steering!!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the way it handles now (bursitis in both shoulders)...but I have to be really, really careful where I look!:lecturef_smilie: Just a little input from your southern cuzin!!!;)

:agree: They did something to the DPS... It's definitely quicker to react! :opps:
Which takes a bit of getting used to again!

I did 140 miles today on my '14 RTS. This is my first Spyder and I too sometimes feel like the machine is a little squirrely. However, most of that, I believe, is me still adjusting from two wheels to three. My tire pressures are OEM specs. The temp never got above 80F durning my ride, but I didn't feel any excessive heat from the engine. I have just a tad over 1000 miles on it now and am loving every inch of the ride so far. MPG is way better than I hoped for so far.

Enjoy the ride,
Steve

My 2014 RT-s is smooth as silk at all speeds on the road. I'm completely amazed compared to my 2013 RT-s. The suspension feels so nice I don't think I'm going to need the RonBar but I am having Squared Away do an alignment at the HOW meet. By smooth I mean smooth. At 103 mph last week felt no vibration or tendency to wander. Was pulling about 5800 rpm on a slight down hill straight road. Felt I had more in it but was running out of straight road. I know some object to this but I was originally just checking to see if I had a speed that gave me issues and one thing led to another and speed just happened. So if your bike seems squirrely then something is wrong.

Ok what I found

I still don't have my computer up and running yet because I also decided to re do all the wiring from my security cameras and that also turned into a disaster today.

So any way I took a break from the puter and went out to check the rear tire pressure so I now have 20 psi in the fronts and 30 in the rear, BUT!!!! When I was laying on the floor to get to the valve, I noticed a metal linkage just swinging in the breeze. It looks like a skinny hemi link to just give you a idea of what it looks like . It is a linkage from the rear air shock, I am guessing it has to do with auto leveling and it was missing a bolt where it attaches to the frame, so I found a bolt that fit and re bolted it to the frame, so now I am hoping this was the problem with the ass of the bike jumping all over the place. I am riding in the morning so I will see if that was the probem.

Guys, I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and was able to rent a 2013 RTS for 2 days. For the first 20 miles, I thought something was wrong with it: I could not keep up with the regular trikes. After lunch I realized I had to relearn the old RT. Once I started putting a little body English into it I was back in the groove:yes: There is a tremendous difference in my new Lamonster Edition with the sway bar, laser alignment and other tweaks and the old setup. Amazing I did not realize how much til I went back.

Relax..!!

there was some problems a while back with that joint not being connected. Now that you reattached it things should improve. The re-learning will come easy for you just take your time. Hope your ryde tomorrow will be a great one..!! :ohyea::ohyea:

John, that should definitely make a difference. When the dealer put my bike together they forgot to connect the wires to the auto leveling system. It was another dealer that noticed it when they were doing the canister repair. Hope you enjoyed the new ride.

Was the problem on the 13s or just on the 14s because if it is on both years than they should check why a bike leaving the assembly line should have this problem

The dealers should get a heads up about it. The only way to find it is if your under the bike for some reason,
