• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Fault code C1290

I'm getting a VSS fault about every time I start the spider if it hasn't been started in a while. It's not running bad it seems to be okay but it made me check the software version which is apparently out of date comparing it to a post here about new software version. Also I check the fault codes and I got a c1290 that's been logged, what is that code for?

It might help if you told us the year and model of your Spyder.

C1290 is a VCM voltage failure

Possible causes
VCM supply voltage is much too high or too low.
VCM supply voltage spike glitch.

Service actions

Measure battery voltage with engine stopped
(Expected value: 11 to 13 volts).
Measure battery voltage with engine running
(Expected value: 13 to 14.7 volts).
Check connections on voltage regulator.
Check ground and positive connections on battery

2020 RTL. I'll check those voltages.

I found a pdf online of spyder fault codes but this code was not in it.
Is there a complete fault code list somewhere?

With that said by all means check battery connections & load test for good measure

I got a pdf a number of years ago, from whom I can't remember, that lists all the codes but does not include the possible causes and service actions. I got the information for post #2 from the Spyder Codes app on my iPhone that I I've had for years but I think is no longer available. If you want the pdf list, six pages, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you. FWIW, C1290 does not show on my 2014 Green service manual.

i got a VSS fault code yesterday when i started my new 2020 f3-limited. i think the battery was low , because i was messing around with the menu's in the display and the bike wasnt running,, the battery's lose that much power when its not running, and playing with the menu's ..
