There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
F3 Ltd 2018 rear trunk lid seems very weak

I installed a luggage rack to the lid. Makes a big difference. I also have on order 2 shims that F4 Customs sells. They haven't arrived yet. Watch his video, makes a lot of sense. He laser cuts the shims, graduated thickness, helps guide the lid arms into the socket. :thumbup: Everything Don makes is top quality. :firstplace: Tom :spyder:

The problem is more for feeling of hinges weakness than lateral movements
For example when the wind blows while you are loading or unloading the lid
has a lot of movement back and forward and it looks like it's going to break.
So I was wondering if someone had solved the problem.

I have a 2017 Ltd with the same problem, but I be very careful with it when open and when closing. The problem I think is in the hinge arms and the hinge itself, for the lid, then are just NOT strong enough, so nothing is going to help your problem when it's windy (just hold on to it with one hand). The closing of the lid can be helped with the shims or with a luggage rack attached to the top of the box. I don't like the rack idea because it adds extra weight to the lid and a strong wind could brake loose the hinges (just my thoughts). I plan to order the shims just to aid in closing the lid securely. Just my thoughts on my problem........

When you way "warranty" the trunk lid, are you just demanding the dealer do what? It seems more like a bad design than something broken. What did the dealer do to remedy the problem?

Just an update, I got the shims from F4 and they work great. Trunk closes no problem now.

Got mine, putting them in tomorrow. Did you have any problem with them sticking before they were in place.

The only problem I had was getting them straight up and down. I tried to push them as far forward as possible per the instructions but it ended up they were slight angled. However, they still work great. You can feel the plastic rubbing a bit but I imagine that is what is guiding them in.

I'm thinking that a slip sheet is in order. The paper you peel off the adhesive tape can act as that. What you do is remove the paper and replace on the tape leaving the tape exposed about 1/16" to 1/8" at the bottom. Grip the shim with a long nose pliers and when you have the shim positioned, and the bottom adhered to the wall, them lift the slip sheet.
This works for all labels, stickers and decals.
