• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Extended transmission filter cover

I bought a used 2011 rt-s recently and I am pretty sure it does not have the extended transmission filter. Anyone know where i can buy the metal cover so i can use the newer extended transmission filters? thanks

They stopped selling the small filters in 2013 and gave away the covers with all new filters for a long time. You will have to order one from BRP Parts.

This also means your bike has not had an oil change in a long time.

You don't really need the extended transmission filter. The only filters that ever gave anyone trouble were the very poor quality BRP factory filters. Why BRP reinvented the wheel when all they needed to do was produce a quality filter in the same dimension is hard to understand. They could have just contracted with one of the aftermarket companies that were already producing quality, trouble free filters. But I digress.

I sell a lot of filter kits and I still have a good number of customers using the original filter. I do not know of any instance of anyone having a problem with these smaller filters. As long as a filter flows enough clean oil, a bigger filter is just a waste of time (and in this case, money).

Not only does the original filter size work well, it is less expensive because this filter is used by a great number of other vehicles. It's all about volume.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with moving to the larger filter. I'm just saying it is not necessary. A good quality original filter size will do just as well.
