• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Elka installation on F3

The question of installation orientation of Elka shocks on an F3 came up in an unrelated thread. I said I would ask John at Elka about it and report back. Here is his reply:

Hello James,

For the F3 shocks, the spring needs to be installed up…much like the stock ones. If they are installed with the spring down, the coil will interfere with the A-arm.

So it looks like I may have gotten them installed correctly. If yours are installed spring down like on an RT, better have a look.

THANK YOU

I really do appreciate you getting the correct information. I apologize for asking in the wrong forum. Always admired your bike and when I saw the shocks, i questioned because i was told they go the opposite way (and there are many pics of the F3 with them upside down). So again I thank you for going to the source and getting the correct way they are to be mounted.

It would be nice to have companies that actually took the time to produce adequate instructions for customers that are buying their products

I installed a set on my bike a couple of months ago. Not sure what you mean by this, I installed them the same way the stock ones were installed, never once crossed my mine. Sure I know usually springs are down, but figured the stock ones were up so the Elkas needed to do the same.
