ECM Problems

Is it possible to repair an ECM on a 2011 Spyder RT? Or perhaps get a rebuilt one.

I understand a new ECM cost about $2000 and that doesn't include the labor to install it.

the ecm is a computer so i would say you can't fix it. look around at junk yards and motorcycle salvage yards and see if you can picked one up used

From your other post, I gather you bought the 2011 new and have 18,000 miles on it. The dealer should look at this perhaps as a warranty issue.

There was a fix for this early on and we had ours (2011) done when it was first purchased (new in 2012).

You should not have to pay $2K to fix a "known" issue--if that is what is going down.

Let us know what happens.

I did buy the bike new in May of 2011. The bike now has just short of 16000 miles on it.

I agree, ask your dealer to check if it was ever fixed properly to start with.

the ECM unit for the 2011 RT was changed to a new part number. You should check with dealer if yours was changed in any case on cheapcycleparts.com the ECM unit is $529.and change...:thumbup:

When I had a problem with mine on the RSS, they changed out the entire unit.

You mentioned the ECM is under warranty for 18500 miles. Where do I find this information in print? I have been on line trying to find something and have been unsuccessful. Thanks in advance for you help.

i believe all the warranty info is in your owners manual.
