Too bad it is so close to Daytona dates and we'll be on the way South!
but if you are in the area, check it out!
"join us for the annual Cranberry Festival in
Shady Valley, located in Johnson County, Tennessee.
We look forward to
this event each fall and hope to see you this year on
Saturday, October 13.
Come out for the "best little festival in
Tennessee", a celebration filled with good fun for the whole family
including:
the help of caring supporters like you, we have been able to preserve and restore the last of the mountain
bogs in Shady Valley. Thanks to you, we have restored more than 150
acres to their original wetland state over the past 30 years.
In
addition, we recently restored more than 6,000 feet streams flowing into our
Orchard Bog Preserve. Our streams now meander naturally across the preserve, and
their banks are lined with hundreds of willow, alder and dogwood
saplings.
Our bog restorations have been identified as the single most
important factor in the long-term protection of rare wetland species such as the bog turtle
and the wild cranberry. In addition, the bog restorations have brought back
waterfowl, migratory birds and other wildlife to Shady Valley, thanks to your
support.
Visit us online for directions and more
information about the annual Cranberry Festival, or call our office in Shady
Valley at (423) 739-2537.
We hope to see you there!
