• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Drift Innovation HD170 Camera

Anyone using one? Whaddayou think about it?

GoPro appaarently is the camera of choice but the Drift is relatively new and looks promising. I like the more streamlined appearance, rotating lens, built-in view screen and availability of a seperate mic.

I have the non-hd version and it's really nice. Many features the gopro just doesn't have. Rotating lens. Remote control. Viewing screen. I got the non-hd version really cheap after the hd version came out. I also got a panvise mount for it

They give you a ton of stuff with these cameras. At the time I got mine the reviews I read said once the HD version was out it would be just about the perfect camera.

I've used mine a bit and really like it. The ability to view where you're shooting is nice and using the remote to turn it on and off is great.

Quality is good and I'm sure the HD would be great. The CCD (at least on my version) tends to bump the exposure up and down in a bit of a noticeable way when going from dark to lite like in the shadows. Have not played with settings to see if I can change it.

I would highly recommend these units.

What Firely says goes for me too.

The single best feature that I like is teh remote control. You can turn the camera on and off with a button set that fits quite nicely on the handlebar.

One thing I found out, the unit eats batteries. Or at least it did for me last year, so this year I got it set up to power off of the bike 12V through an car adapter. I bought the silicone back so the unit is still water and dust resistant with the external power connected.

That is the one I have been looking at to buy down the road. I really like the remote concept and being able to tell when the camera is on and off and what it is seeing.

I just got mine the other day and have only tried it out once so far. I really like it and as mentioned, the remote is a great feature along with the viewing screen.

As for trying to extend battery life I set the viewing screen to auto-off after 20 seconds, will have to see if that helps.

What have you all found to be the perfect mounting spot on the Spyder? I also got the suction cup mount along with my camera so I might try that. The one video I shot so far I attached it to my helmet.

See if this is of any help.

You can see the camera mounted on the dash and the remote mounted on the left handl2bar just inside the OEM cluster

I looked at them & thought they were too limited. With Sony & Canon HD VidCams selling for under $150, with 70x optical & image stabilization, I went that way instead. My new Sony weighs nothing, is tiny, has a 3" view screen, & takes terrific video.

Since I avoid bad weather, and use a RAM mount for the occasional use, it was the better choice.

Now, if I could just figure out how to post videos w/o YouTube.....
