• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

We are planning a trip to the Dragon at the end of this month! Anybody completed it on a 1330 RT? Tips or suggestions? We are thinking about completing the following:

- The Dragon
- Devils Triangle
- Six Gap
- Moonshiner 28
- Road to Nowhere
- Cherohala Skyway

Anything else that should be added? Thanks!

Do you feel that should replace something on my list?
I would replace the Devil's Triangle with The Rattler. You could also jump on the BRP and take a trip up to Little Switzerland and do the Diamond Back. I did the Devil's Triangle about 4 years ago. The road was in very poor condition and was actually dangerous with all the coal trucks and such. It also was quite a boring drive to get to it. Definitely worth replacing with either, or both of the ones listed below. I will be up there from 6/15-6/19.

All good rides. But as one who lives here I'm going to let you know that you are going to be very, very tired once you are finished.

You may find The Devil's Triangle very disappointing unless you ride it on a Sunday.
There is a working coal mine along the route and it's way too easy to get stuck behind slow moving trucks carrying the coal.

I will agree with Blacklightning on Diamondback. I would add the Devils Whip to the list also. You ride up Devils Whip, go on the BRP for about 10 miles and then take Diamondback down the hill. Roads are in pretty good shape and they are great twisty roads. 👍

Back of the Dragon from Marion Va to Tazewell is a good road http://backofthedragon.com/ This can be done the same day as The Snake but makes for a long day.

The Snake has some excellent riding roads challenging and Scenic. Shady Valley Country Store is in the heart of The Snake. Hwy 91 from Elizabethton to Shady Valley is my favorite part. http://www.shadyvalleycountrystore.com/

The Copperhead Loop http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/1335/North-Carolina/The-Copperhead-Loop.html

If you hit the Devils Triangle after 4:30-5:00 usually no problems with coal trucks. I agree that the approach from either end is rather calm but the 116 leg is really good and challenging and makes up for it. Lots of interesting little churches along the way.

If you like NC style BBQ then the DRAGON PITT INN is a good stop when riding the Dragon 6-8 miles from the TN end of the Dragon

If you stay in stay in Johnson City Tn Johnny Bruscos is an excellent place to eat www.johnnybruscos.com/location/johnson-city/

Heads up now

Hope you have enough days & weather for that

Awesome area, been there countless times

But you may want to be open to whatever - ---after or in between some rides

Cuz it's a great place to chill & absorb the peace

Enjoy!

:agree:All of the above are great roads. I only went as far north as Little Switzerland because the other roads that the OP mentioned were down south. One key to us helping with great roads to ride would be knowing where you will be staying? I like the Maggie Valley area because you are able to reach all the places that I mentioned. Not in the same day, but you can go north one day, and south the next. Either way, you have some great suggestions in this post. Ride safe. Also, keep in mind that a 300 mile day of twisty road mountain riding is not like a 300 mile day of interstate riding. You will be tired, but you will be glad you did it.

You can catch the Triangle on your way down. It is better on a Sunday because of the trucks but I would much rather ride it than the Dragon. I would also hit the Rattler

My wife are going to be in Asheville right after Memorial Day. Coming back from Charleston from a family thing. Going to center in Asheville for 2 or 3 days before heading to Memphis. If you are in the area maybe we can hook up if this is in your time frame.
