• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just had to limp home, DPS went into limp 3 times 2011 white RT 1200 miles.
this happen at start of 1200 mile trip to MI not same driving my HEMI gas hog:gaah:

Be sure your foot is not riding the brake. This will send the Spyder into limp mode, and is common to new riders. Your foot only needs to touch the pedal to cause the problem.

Had the same thing happen to me about three days ago. It's at the dealers now. They had just changed the DPS little over a week ago.

I mentioned the same thing in another thread. Went on a group ride Thursday night. Another person had 2011 RTS with about 500 miles on it. Went into DPS warning and Limp Mode. We shut the bike off, rebooted, and they had no further problems.

I did not think to mention keeping the foot away from the brake--I have even done that once myself.

I hope there is not a trend developing here concerning 2011 RTS and dps/limp mode.:popcorn:

Limp Mode

I too have a 2011 RT-S (Blue), went into check DPS- limp mode the first 150 miles, stayed in shop for three days. After the 500 miles service, went into check DPS-limp mode, back in the shop. This time it has been in the shop for nine days, shop is trying to call tech line at BRP to have new DPS shipped.

I too hope this is not a trend with the RT-S models. I may know something by Monday. I have informed the Dealer that I was not happy, and was thinking about givin this unit back for a full refund or new model.

Good luck to all RT-S riders.

Everytime it has happemd to mine I have just turned it off and waited and then restarted and went on. That feeling is alwys with you though like waiting for impending doom.

Mine is a 2010 with about 7000 miles on it. It has happened maybe a half dozen times. The hitting the brake pedal turning it on is new to me? The last time I had it happen I was rearranging my legs while in cruise so it is entirelly possible I hit the pedal.

Since I had the new DPS put in it has gone into limp mode 3 times, with about the same amount of times with the old unit in the trike. Bill

Just hitting the pedal shouldn't do it. Riding the pedal can. The brake pressure sensor sees slight pressure, but not enough to apply the brakes. It figures there is a malfunction and tattles to Nanny. Not sure why it shows up as a DPS error and not VSS (sometimes there are both warnings), but that seems to be the way it works. :dontknow:

Our 2011 went into limp mode and DPS warning came on at 110 miles on it. The dealer thought it must have just been a connection problem. They rechecked all the connectors and cleared the codes. We now have 600 miles and haven't had any more problems. This DPS concern seems to be showing up on quite afew :spyder2:
