• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello all, I'm new here. i have a 2013 STS-SE5 that I just got from someone. 1800 miles. Tonight I was coming home and going downhill so downshifted from 2nd to 1st because I was going super slow and wanted to keep the rpms decent but when I hit the downshift the engine just quit. I pulled to the side thinking I would just restart it. But it didn't shift to neutral and won't start. I let it sit 10 min thinking to reset the computer and started over and still nothing. Everything else works so I know it's not the battery. The parking brake is on and the oil light is on the cluster so i put a little oil in thinking it was that and still nothing. I pulled the codes they are this:

P0031
P0340
P0458
P0335
P0231
P0037
P081A

Still no luck. I have no idea why it won't start..won't even make a sound. I'm getting it towed tomorrow I guess so if anyone knows a good dealer in the Irvine, CA or Laguna Beach area that would help. I know of mission motorsports but when I called them they didn't know too much. Any ideas?? Thanks! [email protected]

You might want to keep this to just one thread so as to avoid confusion. I note you have three threads up now. The ST forum is probably the best thread to keep.

Did you try engaging the brake and trying to start it? Usually it will pop into neutral and start. Try that!

I tried just waiting and then holding down brake but still nothing. I tried putting on parking brake and nothing. sorry for the multiple threads I don't know how to use this forum yet...

Here's a start for you...
look up your codes, note what systems they impact, and let your dealer know what's going on...
Without having looked them up myself yet; you've either got:
Something really interesting happening... :yikes:
Or...
you were riding the brake on that downhill section. That'll give Nanny fits as well.

Oh! When you stop the bike to let it gather up it's thoughts; take the key out of it, and walk away... ;)

Good Luck!

Now that i'
ve had a chance to take your list to the Spyder Help Website... :D
My guess is that you've got a fuse that popped...
All of these codes point to the ECM :yikes:, and then mention blown fuse as a possible cause.
One code mentions the Purge valve, and two others mention the crank position sensor...
Check your fuses before going any further...

The common factor here is the ECM and it's communication with other modules and sensors.
I am agreeing with others blown fuse, loose relay or loose connector on ECM.

Not shifting to neutral is expected since it will not automatically shift until after the engine starts.

Thanks Bob, thats what I was thinking too. How do you check the fuses though or which one would I pull to check? thanks

Dealer in Irvine

Call Mission Motorsports and talk to Nick and have William work on your Bike. I have them do all my service on my ST. They are a BRP dealer at 1 Doppler, Irvine

Awesome Thanks DJ! I actually just did that and got off the phone with Nick. I will request William then if you are happy with their service that is worth it. They are like the only place in the OC area I think besides temecula.
