• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Doc Humphrey's belt tension roller

Some one recently asked why Doc Humphrey changed the tensioner roller from aluminum to nylon. Here is a quote that he asked to be posted as he was on the road and didn't have access to a computer.

The aluminum started lightly etching my outer belt so we switched to nylon and will warranty them for 2 years from date of purchase regardless of mileage.

Good to know...

Thanks for the information. Nice to know and the warranty on the new one is good to have...

Thanks for posting that for me! Some things I cannot do on a smart phone.
What I will be eventually posting will be a video of one of their new tensioners, one with 200 miles on it, and the one we make.
What we will do is:
1. Examine the play of: a new one never installed, one that has about 200 miles on it to see if the play has become worse, and how much play the new one of ours has.
2. I will then disassemble both mine and theirs and compare the differences.

As I have said before, for the ryder that doesn't ryde a great deal, this will probably last several years, maybe more. But for those of us that put 15-20K miles (or more) on our bykes each year, this may not hold up as well under those circumstances.

Also, a little homework for everyone: See if you can find out the warranty on the BRP unit for the F3. Since, in order to have the unit qualify for replacement if it fails within the specified period, will the labor be included the second time around for the dealer install? And what kind of priority will the repair be done in? We don't want to wait 3-4 weeks at the peak of ryding season unable to ryde for a 20 minute repair.
Us RT folks and those of us that have installed it on our F3's ourselves are not covered in any way, shape, or form from what I can see.
I am not picking on them or anyone, but someone has to ask these questions. We cannot be lemmings that have our eyes glaze over at the latest farkle out there and not ask the questions that need answered so we know where we stand.

No doubt you will be able to back yours far better than that.

No matter which one Spyders go for at least long last we have the option to add a belt tensioner to the Spyder line up

:opps: I have to admit to not paying as much attention to this issue as I should have... :opps:
Doc,
Based upon the picture in your most recent post: you are now going to be selling the entire kit, and not just the mounting bracket? :dontknow:

Doc

Will your roller adapt to the BRP arm when the time comes to change it out? Seems to me that poor little bearing could get hot enough to light a match. How long they'll last is anybody's guess. I think I'll be checking mine from time to time with my infrared thermometer.

We designed ours to bolt right up when/if theirs wears out.
