• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dead Moto-Horn 2.0

Well, My Motohorn 2.0 died today on the road. Luckily I noticed it when I accidentally hit the horn while getting off of the Spyder at a sonic and could hear the compressor but no noise.

Checked the air line by disconnecting at the horn and it has air coming out so I guess the diaphragm on the trumpet is blown out. I'll go hook my little beep beep horn back up until I can fix it.:gaah:

Little disappointed in this since it is less than a year old, I'll check with motohorn to see if they have any replacement parts.

Apparently, No repair parts are available on the site.

Sent an email to their support department, hopefully I will hear something back soon.

I'm guessing you bought this directly thru Motohorn versus a vendor such as Lamonster?

Yep , Lamonster had that period where they didn't have the horns in Black and I ordered directly from the website but bought the prewire kit from Lamonster to hook it up.

I haven't had any response from support but I imagine no one will read that email until monday.

But I did get a promotional email from them stating the following: Everyone who pre-orders the chrome MH 2.0 gets our new updated [v3.0] package instead!

This includes major improvements to the compressor and better packaging at current pricing! Order 2.0 now and get the 3.0 instead.

So I guess there is already a new version out again and with a "better" compressor. So I guess the 2.0 compressors were having issues otherwise there would be no 3.0 improved compressor. I guess I have that to look forward to next.

I already pulled the trumpet off but left the compressor and wiring in place with the fuse pulled and hooked up my wimpy beep beep horn back up until I hear something back. But I am thinking now of just removing the compressor as well if it is having issues with that version as I don't want it to fail on me again while on the road.

I may just go for the dual track this time as it can be tucked in and it is all one unit.

Well here is the response from Motohorn Support. No mention of any spare parts available to buy and all that was offered was a 50% off on the Motohorn Version 1.0 package. Wt foxtrot?!?!

They just came out with version 3.0 with a "improved" compressor. Not even going to chance it with the dual track now I have seen what their support is like. Getting ready to go out and yank off that compressor as well and time to go look for another horn.

My warning .. stay away from motohorn. I have never ever had a horn fail in less than a year from purchase. This is a critical life safety system for us and it should reliably work when needed!

@Lamonster even though I did not purchase this from you I would really think twice about continuing to sell these on your site.

They can really put us into a dangerous situation. Luckily I found out about this in a sonic parking lot and not at a time on the road like when I had my accident and needed a reframe when I was run off the road by a cage.

I checked to see if the hose was disconnected and it was still connected on both pieces. Then disconnected the line from the trumpet and there is air coming out of the tube from the compressor. It appears the diaphragm for the trumpet has possibly failed. Luckily I found out about this while parked at a sonic and not when I needed it..

In the meantime I have to go and hook my lil beep beep horn back up so I have something that works. Are there any replacement parts for the trumpet that I could use to repair it?
I looked on the website to see if there was anything I could order to repair it but I can't seem to find anything available.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I was able to bring it back to life again today by making my own diaphragm for it, for how long who knows?

But my neighbors are going to hate me when I make this a part of my safety check before going to work at 5:45 every morning that it is nice out.

When you are going out on I-70 across 2 mountains and are in traffic that moves from 85-95 miles an hour on the downhill side, damn straight I'm doing a safety check before I leave.

I even do that on my Silverado.
