We had a great day today other than it was pretty cold all day for FL. Wind was blowing and there was a chill in the air. Harvey and I took off early to head south and it some breakfast and then work on a couple of Spyders at the Sunshine Mall. They had a pretty good group there and I was surprised to see so many Spyders on the road this year, there were Spyders everywhere and not only that when I went around and talked to the vendors they all noticed the same thing and they all seemed to have a story about a friend that had one and loved it. I can't tell you how many red light conversations I had about the Spyders too.
I headed over to the Spyder tent when we got done and there was a pretty good crowd there and I couldn't even get parked without folks stopping me. You're definitely a RockStar when you're on a Spyder even in the middle of thousands of great looking bikes. The demo rides were all full but like I said before it was a little chilly so I think it would have been even better if it had warmed up.
Daytona is always cool for me as I get to see old friends and make new ones. I've talked to two guys that knew everything about the Spyder and had been following all the post here on SpyderLovers and Facebook and much to my surprise neither one of these guys were owners but they were the most educated non owners I've ever met. That was pretty cool to see that the Spyder has such a following of future owners.
Two years ago I stayed in the same hotel that I'm in now and I met a riding club from the Virgin Islands and one of the guys in the club had red RS and I think it had pipes and a few little things. They were all really good guys and they loved my IPS so I hooked him up with one. I like to think my IPS was the inspiration for his custom but that would be a stretch. He knew I would be at the tent so he came by to show me how they do it in VI. He blew me away with this custom. The build took him 6 months and I didn't ask how much but I have an idea seeing I've done a few customs. It has air all the way around and he could drop it right on the ground. It has a custom swingarm with a chain drive and a jackshaft. The rear is a 360 and I think the fronts were 18". This thing was bad to the bone and he just got back from wining the trike and sidecar show in Deland. I've see some really nice customs before but so far this is the best one yet. It should make us all proud to say we own a Spyder.
He's a member here and goes by VISpyder but hasn't posted yet but I told he has to now. Good job Bro :bowdown::firstplace:
Later about 12 of us went back to Port Orange for more Prime Rib and great fellowship. All in all it was a great day :doorag:
Yes that is shrimp wrapped in bacon
