• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Day Six Cheyenne to Alaska and return

Started off day six with an excellant breakfast at the Lake View Inn then it was on the road again to our destination Watson Lake. The ride along highway 97 was a great ride with fantastic scenery except for the 50 kilometers of chip-seal road repair, Russ on his wing did not like the loose gravel and neither of us liked the dust and rocks flying through the air and striking the bikes and us, thank goodness for helmets. Our first gas stop was at the Testa River Campground which had a sign on the gas pump which says it all "No Snivling"; when I asked the attendant about it he replied "Fill up,Pay up and be on your way with no complaints" ie. no snivling. I have to admit they had the best homemade cinnamon rolls and fesh coffee. After finishing the rolls it was back on the road again and our first encounter with the chip seal operation. The other interesting item for the wing rider was the steel grated bridges, Russ said it was like riding on jello, I must admit I certainly did not want to make a quick turn of stop on those grates. Scenery again was magnificant especially around Muncho Lake, a huge lake with depths reaching over 300ft, because of the depth right up to the lakes edge the water was uncommonly calm and the color was a deep green that couldn't be captured in a photo, we tried but it didn't happen. After leaving Muncho Lake we encountered some mountain goats, Bison and a black bear all along the roadway, of course we did the tourist thing and stopped the bikes for a photo op causing traffic to stop and back up while other tourists did the same thing. Temperature was in the mid 70s to mid 80s all day and it was a comfortable ride, we kept the speed down to about 55-60 all day so as not to miss anything which meant we had to pull over several times to let the truckers by; interesting point about todays ride was for about 90 percent of the time we were alone on the road way and didn't have to worry about other travelers as if we were contained in our own protective bubble, kinda cool. We thought Watson Lake was going to be more but it is a little disapointing, first motel we've stayed at that didn't have airconditioning; aren't we spoiled. Did have an excellant dinner at a small cafe called Cathy's, excellant home style cooking salad to dessert all the same low price with very friendly people. Almost forgot, if you ever go through Fort Nelson stop at Boston Pizza and have the Cheese baked jumbalia fettechini its to die for and the portion is really big enough to split, we didn't. tomorrow our destination is Whitehorse, talk at you all later.

Glad you are having good weather.

A little note about the wildlife....

Some bears are alongside the roads because they're waiting for road kill. You see cages pulling over and taking pics all the time. But they are in a cage. You are not. Bears are quicker than they look. Please take care around them.

On a lighter note, it's so cool to see all those critters!

Thank you for posting about your wonderful trip so far. We are following along with our Milepost and maps. Glad you are enjoying some 70 and 80's for temps. We are currently experiencing low 70's in Anchorage, so hope it hangs around for you when you arrive.

You will like Whitehorse. That will take you back to "big city" and traffic for a day. Enjoy the respite. Your in for some more beautiful scenery from Whitehorse and beyond.

Your write up about having the road to yourself was right on.

Looking forward to hearing about today's adventures.

We had to wash the car after arriving in Watson Lake as it was drenched in mud. I remember saying to wifey I was glad I was not on 2 wheels.
We also ate in the same restaurant.

Hope you continue to have a great time.
