Day Eleven had us leaving Fairbanks and riding to Denali Natl Park down hiway 3; the 125 miles was very enjoyable and the road condition was great. When we arrived at Denali we rode the 15 miles you're allowed to drive on to the Savage Ranger Station, at that point we were told by the ranger that we had to turn around which we were only to happy to do. It seemed like they picked this past several weeks to replace the culvert piping going accross the roads so it was gravel, black top, gravel, blacktop and etc. for most of that 15 miles. After a little time around the Denali Visitor Center we headed back to Denali to the Grand Denali Lodge (Russ has exquisite tastes) that sits high above the town and can only be reached by driving up a long dirt roadway that had several switchbacks to maneuver through at a posted speed of 10 mph; first gear all the way up. They even had a sign on one of the turns that said "Road wet when raining". I guess you needed a laugh to get through the turns. After checking into the "lodge" Russ went back to the visitors center at Denali Natl Park while I fought with the computer trying to get to where I could control the helmet camera (no luck yet might have to wait until Anchorage and a knowledgable camera/computer guru can look into it). The weather today was absolutely perfect with minimal clouds in the bright blue sky, the sun was out in force today (a chamber of commerce day for sure).Tomorrow we continue down highway 3 enroute to Anchorage, perhaps meeting up with akspyderman. Interesting meeting all the college students from across the US and various foreign countries that are up here in Alaska doing seasonal work, some are working two jobs because the need for good employes is very much in demand. Makes you wonder about all the people on welfare that say they can't find work(sorry about the soap box but it does make you wonder when companies have to bring in people from other countries because they can't find people here that want to work). Peace.
