• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dash display

After having pushed all the buttons, left and right arrows reading manuals, asking questions and generally making a nuisance of myself I still have questions on the stupid digital display. Changing from KM to MPH, setting the clock etc. is no prolem. However, when I got the bike the display showed me certain things on the display in a certain order and was pretty much what I wanted. After disconnecting the battery to connect some things the display now shows different things. It's got RPM in large numbers where MPH used to be, no temperature etc. How can I change around where things are displayed and in what order they are shown on the display? I haven't seen anything in any manuals or on video that explain it.

The last thing I need is the RPM in giant numbers displayed. I can feel RPM but need to SEE MPH and that tiny lettering on the analog speedo is worthless. Of course, if we could do it ourselves the dealer couldn't make $$$ per hour doing it for us. I'm surprised BRP hasn't said you need to have a trained person to start it for you then sit behind while they drive you around and charge by the hour for it. double:gaah:
I like the bike, it's great but this picky little BS that goes along with it sucks big time.

You tinkered around with the display, and got it all set to the way that you wanted it...

And you disconnected the battery!

The display simply reverted back to the default settings.
It's time to go back in, and do it all over again. :banghead:

Let's see....

On the RS with a similar set up we have a M button and and S button used for setting things up. Once set if you press the S button the dash will switch to the MPH and temp etc and then press it again and it will go back to the RPM . So you have basically two screens that you can switch back and forth to...

Hi Bob,

Re: The display simply reverted back to the default settings. It's time to go back in, and do it all over again.

That is what I figured is what happened/does happen. However, would it not be nice to have a LOCK setting button where once you got it where you wanted it, it would stay there?

I cannot get my display out of degrees C. I contacted BRP and they said to 'Take it to the dealer.'

:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I think I can do just fine not knowing the exact temp.

That would be nice... I don't know how the system would remember the changes that are made to it though, when all power is shut down. :dontknow:
If you interrupt the start sequence: it also plays havoc with your radio settings (on the RT).

Battery disconnect does have a short memory as do most vehicles in various systems. If you leave it for a long time disconnected that is the result. A good exercise and way to get to know your Spyder well is to reset all YOUR settings. It really is not all that hard. (Even a CaveMan can do it
:D ).
If all else fails read the instructions in the manual or get the 10 year old kid next door to do it. I know it is somewhat frustrating but not impossible.

Also when your battery is very low it has a load shedding feature that turns off such things as the clock first and then the rest of the system begins to shed so as to preserve the battery for starting. I am not an expert in this but that is how it was explained to me by a BRP tech in Durango when my clock kept losing time. Installed new battery and clock worked perfectly. (bad battery)

Moral of the story is to not delay this complicated system without a battery for very long. Your newer automobiles operates very much the same. Here in the "Old Pueblo" we change our batteries every three years because of the extreme heat that shortens the life of the batteries.

Go back in where and do what? It was fine the way it was and for safety I disconnected the battery while I did some hook ups. Do I disconnect the battery again?

While I'm pretty sure it's in the 'Frunk Manual' (well I can't call it 'Glovebox Manual' can I? Cos it sure won't fit in there! :dontknow: ) Sooo.... Let's see if I can remember how to do it..... OK, here goes:

Press the Mode button (that's the very top left button on your RT or F3-T or Ltd Left Hand grip) a few times until the Set-up screen appears; then using the Navigation arrow buttons, navigate down the list first & then across (right) the list until you find the item/display you want to change; then go right once more to select from the list of display options shown. Once you've selected the option you want, use the Nav arrows to go up & back (left) to the top of the menu & then the Mode button to leave that Set-up screen (cos if you don't leave the menu options area you might accidentally end up changing what you so laboriously just fixed the way you like it if (when) you accidentally hit the Mode button often enough or you disconnect the battery & it reverts to your chosen 'default' :sour: )

AFAIK, those Spyder Models with the 'less comprehensive' dash display still achieve the same results by using the M & S buttons in the Dash & scrolling thru the (less comprehensive) display options in much the same manner - someone with one of those models will correct me if I've got that wrong I'm sure!

I think maybe the cluster needs to be rebooted. Make sure the battery is at full charge and then disconnect it again for a short time. Make sure you reconnect cleanly, i.e., don't touch, let off, retouch, in a short time frame. Short bursts of power to the cluster may have upset it. I can see no way that RPM would be in place of speed other than the cluster having gotten confused when you reconnected the battery.
