• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Darth on the move

Phil

Mod Monster
Weather permitting, I'll be ryding from Tyler to downtown Houston Saturday morning. I have about 2 hours of work to do near downtown, then ..... who knows. I'll have another 1-2 hours to hang around before heading home.

So... Any ideas Houston Area Ryder's?

Darth is ready....

Can't really answer your question, I'm swamped Saturday getting ready for my big road trip myself the next weekend. But I had to say hello because I have roots in Tyler too. My whole immediate family is there. My dad use to be principal at Lee H.S., one brother teaches there, my brother in law works at Trane, and another brother is in Whitehouse.

So what's your favorite route? 45 to 79 to 155 is probably the quickest. 45 to 19 to 155 is my favorite. 59 to 69 is the shortest mileage but too many small town stops.

Phil--For some reason, just now noticed your post. I've got some things going on now and into early afternoon. What time to you think you'll be heading back home?

Hey Glynn!!!! About 2-3pm. I need to baby sit a computer for 2 hrs. OUTSIDE! I'm on Texas St, south of the freeway. I ran out if gas :( 3 blocks away from my destination :(. 103 in the sun. So I'll likely want to head straight back when I,m done.

Phil---Ran out of gas.....that's not a good way to start a project. I assume you got some. Give me a call (281-686-5433) if you need anything. We've got a dinner meet/eat up here in Cypress this evening at 7:00. Again, don't hesitate to give me a call if you need anything.

I had a day of many Spyder firsts.

1. Ran out of gas 3 blocks from my end point! I hadn't been watching the gauge. When it stalled, it was conveniently at an intersection with little traffic. 1.5 mile round trip walk got a gallon and a can. I actually had REMOVED my spare can. Grrrrrr. NOTE- the 'you need gas' light was on and I still had 1 bar on the gas gauge. WATCH the light!

2. First time in driving rain. I tried to avoid a storm that was coming in from Louisiana but it faked me out. Not NEARLY as bad as many stories I've read like Lamont nearly being in a tornado. I had planned on a meandering trip home, but the weather had different plan.

3. First experience with hydro planing (sp?). Three times. Just like a car, my reaction was to quickly back off the throttle and immediately Darth got back in line. I was also pulling the trailer. The last time, knowing what was going on, I kept the power on and sure enough nanny took over. My conclusion was that at least yesterday.... my reaction time was quicker than the nanny!

It was hot in Houston where I was to work for 2 hours. 101.8. Never got more than 5 bars on the temp gauge on the trip. But wow did the glove box get hot!!! I have no desire to insert the liner. But I have purchased a couple of sheets of thermo-guard, like BRP put on part of the gas tank. I'm going to see if I can apply it liberally to keep the engine heat away.

Glynn- thanks for the offer of help.

Amen my brother. I have proven that you can pray, while ryding, with your eyes wide open!

Phil--You gonna be down this way again soon?

Glynn

No plans at the moment Glynn. There is a shot that I MAY need to redo my Saturday experiment again. If so, I'll try to give more advance notice:). I'd love to see you great folks again.
