• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Coolant level...

Has anyone attempted to modify the plastic coolant tank and attach a level indicator (clear tube of sorts) on the outside to make inspection simpler?

I live in a warm climate where freezing in not an issue. I use 15% antifreeze, Water Wetter and distilled water for my coolant recipe. Consequently, the mix is nearly clear and it's virtually impossible to check levels short of sticking some measurement stick in the tank; not easy but the only solution as of now.

A viewing tube would be great. I'm think of purchasing a spare tank and experimenting. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Be sure you vent the open end of the tube or tank into your original tank. Otherwise your coolant system will no longer be pressurized. I would not attempt this. Too many chances of having the coolant tank leak at the connections. I agree that the coolant cannot be readily checked on an RT, but a dipstick is a safer solution.

I have always thought that it was important to keep about 50% antifreeze in the coolant solution to minimize corrosion - is that not a valid concern?

Agree...

Okay...you have me with the abundance of common sense argument. I added some more pure antifreeze and was able to (barely) see the level with a light behind the tank. On to my next crazy idea...:ohyea:
