There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Controversial Nissan Commercial - Motorcyclists as targets

I think this ad should run on the national tv channels...let the entire biking community see it..My guess is that there would be a price to pay...rightfully so...

What is the point of that commercial?

If you weren't able to watch the whole commercial the premise is: How did the Nissan Juke get a center console in the shape of a motorcycle gas tank.

The commercial then shows a Lara Croft like character being confronted by several motorcyclists after which she annihilates them with her Nissan Juke. The title of the commercial is "Trophy" which suggests the Juke's center console in the shape of a motorcycle gas tank is her trophy.

I think Nissan paid a lot of money for nothing.

Would a perspective buyer of the Juke care about the center console's possible resemblance to a m/c gas tank?

I think the demographics plays into it a lot? The "Joke" appeals to a younger crowd and of course instead of having a bottle in their hands as babies todays younger generation were born with Nintendo controllers in them? The connection between the "Joke" and a motorcycle (Gas Tank) is a little far fetched, but by todays standards I didn't find it overly offensive?

Now if she had been out "Spyder" hunting, well thats a different story all together............:lecturef_smilie:

I really can't see why people would be all bothered by this.... I means seriously... it's a CGI commercial done much like a video game. Have none of you ever played a video game where you kill various 'enemies' ?

Why do people have to try and see more into something than there actually is? The 'bad guys' in this could have been on skateboards, scooters, donkeys, etc..... it doesn't make it 'anti-donkey'. Geesh.

What's next... getting upset because Angry Birds is 'anti-pig' ? :p

Point taken, but this isn't a video game. It's a commercial to sell cars. Apples and oranges.

Almost anything is a fair target in a video game but are motorcyclists a fair target to sell cars?

It's a dumb commercial with an even dumber premise for an ugly car. The wife loves it, but it won't be in my driveway anytime soon.:yikes:

Uh-- where do you get that from????
Someone shared a video-- I posted MY opinion on it.

Post whatever you want....and I'll post an opinion should I see fit.
Do I think the ad is stupid? Yup. Doesn't make much sense - but what ads do?
Do I think it's promoting violence against bikers or is anti-bike? NO.

MY opinion is that anyone taking this ad SO seriously as to think it's anti-biker should really go for a ride and blow some steam off...

I suppose the movie "Blues Brothers" was anti-cop car since they crashed so many of them.....:roflblack:

I would say thats not a critique of the video, but of the people who responded to it. So, its your opinion of other peoples opinions. Wouldn't you say there firefly?

Firefly,

I don't think you will ever attain 'sacred cow' status here on S/L. But, that's okay; we do need someone to stir the pot. That used to be HDX's job; but, he's not here very often.

I agree with Firefly...I don't find it "anti-bike" either. If we take offense at everything that refers to anything that we hold dear, wear, say, or do, we will take offense to absolutely everything. Now if you want to make a case for anti-violence as a result of this commercial. I'll buy into that. It doesn't matter if we crash bikes, cars, airplanes, helicopters, or Lego buildings...it is all violence. It is not important what target is the focus, it is the destruction that is the worry. JMHO
