• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

As a Marine and Nam Vet I will fess up to this.

I really like 'PROTEST MUSIC' from the '60's & 70's'.

I just heard that Pete Seeger died. He did 'Where Have All The Flowers Gone, & was a Communist if I remember correctly. I have a CD ' Protest Songs Of The 60's' that is one of my favorites. There isn't any protest songs I do not like. Many of them are in my favorites. Would like to know if other Vets have the same issue, or am I an outcast? For some reason I never felt that they were against me or other Vets.

Pete joined the party in the 30's but so did a whole bunch of other folks at that time. He also joined the army in 1940 and served his country but always claimed he was a communist with a small 'c'. In today's language we would call him a liberal or maybe a socialist. He refused to talk about his beliefs in front of the HUAC folks and was sentenced to jail. He was later cleared but by then he had lost his recording contract, and his career.

I love most of the protest songs but my service goes to time in the RCAF so I didn't get into the Vietnam stuff... thank goodness that wasn't 'our' war.

I can love a song, but not agree with its politics. I loved Pete's music, Woody and Arlo Guthrie's, too, but did not agree with their politics. Here is a great song . . . and I recall it being sung, loud and hard, by many a GI after a bunch of beers!

Let's face it; some of the BEST music, came out fo the most difficult times...
Agree or disagree with the politics; just enjoy the music!
One from Pete... and very appropriate for today...

Not a vet..!!

either one, but love that music and have a lot of them on vinyl, tape, cassetts and disc..sad news about Pete...
