• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Cleaning the Face Shield

From Scorpion website:
The ScorpionExo® face shields have different cleaningprocedures for inside and outside. The outside is coated with an anti-scratchcoating which prevents minor scratches, but cannot resist heavy wiping andcleaning without preliminary softening of the dirt, grime and bugs first. Notethe damp towel method of softening dried bugs and dirt above. Plastic polisheswork fine to clean the outside of the shield as long as the dirt and grime hasbeen softened and removed first. The inner Everclear® no-fog coated faceshields required special treatment for cleaning. We suggest using a warm waterand mild soap combination followed by "pat drying" with a dry towel."Wiping" may cause premature wear and scratching on the Everclear®innercoating.
Certain common household chemicals will react negativelywith the polycarbonates, fiberglass or coatings of your helmet. Avoid contactwith acetone (nail polish remover), caustic solutions (ammonia-based cleaners),hair sprays containing methyene, chlorine from swimming pools or glues.

I use Pledge, it cleans it and works as a defogger on the inside and like Rainex on the outside. It also keeps your helmet lemony fresh!

I use Pledge inside and out, on my windshield and to clean my Tupperware. I like to keep things simple.

Ride in comfort,

I was looking to set a record for distance swimming with a helmet, then they say no. So then I decided I was gonna be a "helmet hair"spray model and they brought up the fact that that I shave my head, and now they say that gluing your helmet to your rain gear won't work either. No wonder there is so many states that do not require helmets!!!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Plexus on the outside, plain water on the anti-fog insides. Using Pledge on anti-fog coatings will degrade them.

What Doc posted was very valid. The Scorpion (and older BRP) faceshields are the very best fog-resistant shields I have ever owned...but they scratch easily and the inside coating will cloud over time if an incompatible product (like Pledge or Rain-X) is used. They do not like dry cleaning methods, even with microsoft cloths made for eyewear. If you don't follow the recommended cleaning procedures, be prepared to replace them annually.

I have been using Windex. Is that good or bad? I usually get about two years out of a face shield before I replace it because of scratches.

Ammonia based cleaners & some alcohol based cleaners will react with the plastic (lexan) face shields, eventually creating a haze. Same rules apply for the Spyder windshields; use cleaners recommended by manufacturers. Don't use cleaners formulated for glass.

+1 for the Suomy line of helmets. The anti fog coating is best simply rinsed with water, shaken, and let dry.

I agree with ASP125 Plexes is great on windshields and face shields. If you have never tried it you are missing out on a great product. BTW its not cheap.
