• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Check Engine Light

Well tonight I was out riding and about 75 miles into the ride the Check Engine light comes on and the N and R start flashing back and forth. After downshifting and then up shifting the lights stopped flashing but the check engine light remained on. I decided to go ahead and pull over and shut it down when i restarted no more check engine light and everything appeared fine. Went ahead and started heading home about 25 miles with no other problems.

Anyone else had this happen or have any idea's what might cause this to occur?

Had this happen to me as well soon after my E-brake update was done. Yesterday I started machine up, went to back up and Service Engine Soon light came on. Shut machine off and it has not come on again.

Never had the N & R thing but I had the check engine light come on once when we were leaving Starbucks.

must have been mad we were stopped dilly dallying around.
Pulled over, shut it off, turned it back on and it never went back on.:dontknow:

Today's my second day of being a Spyder owner and had to ride alone since my husband wasn't feeling well. Thanks to all of you, though, I was just fine. Had two incidents of the turn signal not canceling, but not big deal as some of my other rides don't have that luxury so I'm used to checking instrumentation for a cancel. Also had the dreaded "E" message when I started up after a quick stop. Couldn't get "M" handlebar key to activate, couldn't get in reverse, or first and then the "E" came up. Didn't panic, though, since you all had discussed this before. Just turned key offwelcome and back on and everything reset perfectly. The sort of weird one, though, was I had started off from the restaurant and only gone about a block when suddenly had the feeling of doing a gentle "stoppie". Looked down and the "Parking brake" message started scrolling across the screen, even though I had released it and it wasn't showing when I started off. Oh well - after riding a Ducati, which pretty much flashed one or another type of error at me on most rides, this was minor - David would have to remind me regularly "it's Italian - live with it;). Not sure if the :spyder:is French/Canadian or what but I'm willing to live with its little foibles once in a while.

The turn signal thing was probably due to a gentle curve. You can turn quite far on a long, sweeping turn, like an entrance ramp, withought triggering the cancel mechanism. Glad you found the "trick" for the messages. Always the first thing to try, and has worked for many of us. It is not as hard as you think to accidentally hit the parking brake enough to set it, either after you are moving, or doing a "double hit" when releasing it. I have done so, too. No harm, but you may need to adjust the brake sooner.

We had the same issue with our:spyder:when we first took delivery. It happened several times the first couple of months we had it. By shutting it down and waiting for 30 seconds or so, we were able to restart it and the error would clear. After having it happen several times and reporting it to our dealer, BRP suggestion was if it continued to happen the dealer was authorized to replace the instrument cluster. After the cluster was replaced the problem for the most part cleared up. It still happens, but very infrequent.

Same thing happened to me with Red October yesterday several times. I did what the other posters have suggested, parked for a minute, turned the Spyder off, then re-started. The error message and the check engine light were off when I re-started.

Well went to the dealer today and they pulled the error codes and it seems like it was a bad shift indicator. They said its nothing to worry about unless it happens often. I was told that it only poped the error code once and that it something that may occur from time to time but if it happens on a regular basis then that is a problem.
