• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check engine, DPS and limb mode

Spyder Couple

New member
The wife and I were out trying to find life vest for adults and on our way home at 4:30pm the check engine light came on, the check DPS came on and then the bike went into limb mode.
We got off the road at soon as we could and parked the spyder in the shade. I checked for a fault code and got PO175.

What does PO175 mean? After sitting for about 30 minutes I started it up and no light came on. Wife had called son and he followed us home and we got home safely and no lights came on and it ran fairly well. When we got home we had 5900 miles on the bike since we bought in May 2011.

Don't know what is causing this. On August 21 we were on our way home for seeing our son who was here for his sister's wedding and we had the Check engine light come on and go off
4 times in 12 miles. We took the spyder in to the dealer and they were having problems with the last cyclinder firing. They called BRP and they were told to check fuel filter. When we got it back Sept 7th it seem to be fine and had been running well untill today.

I check all fuses and all were tight and good.

Any suggestions? What does PO175 mean ? Good or Bad?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Darrell

Module: ECM: System too rich bank 2
Causes: injection and fuel supply system
Service auctions: check fuel pressure regulator

I might add that they should check the spark plug and plug wire for that side. A faulty plug or wire can cause an O2 sensor to read rich. If the fuel pressure is within specs, the injector for that cylinder could be leaking by, and would need to be replaced. Your dealer is on the right track, they need to keep chasing it.

sucking Gas

Took the spyder out to see if it still had issues, had to put fill the tank (made sure it was full) and then went 5.4 miles and the digital read out was already down 2 bars.
Yes 5.4 miles down 2 bars.
Where did the gas go? No lights came on but was running a little rough.

Calling SK tomorrow and getting it in and hopefully this time get it fixed and fixed right.

Motorcycle riding has helped my wife's depression so much and she is not a happy camper when the bike has to go into the shop and she can't ryde. Sorry Honey.
Motorcycle riding has done so much for her over the last 4 years (she is so much happier and relaxed)Works better then the pills they put her on.
I really hate to have to take it to the shop again so soon, but have to do it in hopes she can ryde again real soon without problems.

If the Spyder is missing on one cylinder, it will really suck gas! I have experience in that area. Two bars in 5.4 miles is a bit extreme, though. You need to see your dealer, but concentrate on the fault messages, not the gas mileage. They usually can't be bothered with that malady.

Thank you Scotty. We are taking the bike in to the dealership on thursday.

Weird Strange

I (wife) went out to clean out the Spyder to get it ready to go to dealership on thursday and turned the key (as if I was going to start it put didn't) and realize that the digital read out for fuel is now down 3 bars. Called hubby and he asked if there were any wet spots under the spyder and looked on both sides and no wet spots or smell of gas. Where is the gas going? The bike has not been started or moved since yesterday when we had the 5.4 miles and down 2 bars. Now it is 5.4 miles down 3 bars.

Weird strange and where is the gas going?

Maybe your not losing gas, The gauge is losings bars [bad gauge] :dontknow:

The Spyder gas gauge will drop a bar or two (or 1/8 or two) when it cools overnight. After you ride a while it goes back up.

Spyder at Dealership

Drove the spyder to SK Northwest yesterday (thursday) for issues (read above) When we got there we were leaking gas like crazy. Puddles on each side of the spyder. I noticed gas smell on our weay there and thought it was the cars around me. Wife said she could smell it too and she was following me in our SUV.

Service manager had never seen so much gas leaking from a spyder before.

I figure they will have the spyder for at least a week. Wife not a happy camper.
We are hoping that all the bugs get worked out and that it doesn't have to go back except for maint.

Have a great weekend everyone,
