• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check DPS - Limp Mode

I just got back from a 100 mile ride in 100 deg. heat (Interstate riding at 75-80 mph) and about 2 miles from home, just after I got off of the Interstate I got a Check DPS Limp Mode message on the digital part of the dash and on the analog portion the engine light and the spyder light were on. I slowed down and rode the 2 miles home and parked in the garage. Pulled out the manual and it said take it to the dealer. I live in Albuquerque and the dealer is only a couple of miles away so I went back out and started it up, no lights or warnings? Took it to the dealer anyway and they said that since the light wasn't on now it would cost me for them to check it out and they recommended that I ride locally for a while and see if it reoccurs?? Guess that's what I'll do.

Anyone had this happen or have any other recommendations? Thanks for any comments you might have.

There are several different things that could cause this. Without specific fault codes, it would be silly to guess wildly. If it ever happens again, pull up the active fault codes whikle it is still in limp mode. To do so on the RT press MODE, SET, and the turn signal cancel simultaneously. The alphanumeric code will appear, if any, which can be looked up in a shop manual or interpreted here. Likely cause without anything further to go on would be that while working hard in the heat the DPS exceeded its allowable upper temperature limit. It can do the same in extreme cold, at the other end of the scale. If that is the case, there is not much you can do about it, just like the high intake air temperature alarm.

Had a check DPS mode yesterday and then a limp mode, this is my first error code and limp mode, was not sure what the DPS was so made it to a local dealer. I was told the DPS was something to do with the steering and by the time I shut it off and walk in and talked with the service people and walked back out the spyder had corrected it self. It was a warm day of around 100 - 105. I rode for another hour or so after leaving the shop and all was well.

Same with me, never had limp mode or error codes before this. Hopefully we don't have a problem. If anything shows up again with mine I will post the problem but for now it is ride on as usual.
