Cargo Straps

Found a permanent way to hold down cargo without carrying bungee cords. Cannot take credit for the design but will take credit for the manufacturer on my first set. The site with the design http://www.s2straps.com/company.php

Had leftover web straps from the dog harness making days so I when to work making a demo set. 30 minutes later a starter set to test fit on the SpYder. My first set worked great on smaller items. My next set will accommodate large items. Also will create extension for the smaller set that clip-on.

The straps used the handle bolts for secured. I add a washer between the bolt and strap to keep the strap from ripping at the bolt.

:thumbup: I have had need for something like this before and I ended up using one of those stretchy bungee nets. That worked pretty well for me as the multiple hooks on the net snapped onto my GIVI rack tubing very easily and securely. Glad to see another option out here.

Interesting variation. I had not seen these before. I am not a fan of bungees. Aerostitch also has a variety of frame attachment loops available. I have used the HelenStraps for years. Nancy always carries a pair in her trunk. Very good stuff! We also have some of the RokStraps and PiggyBackStraps to try, but the snow has delayed our testing. Another stinking five inches yesterday, and about seven during this week. I'm tired of snow!

I've had good results, when I've mounted a webbing strap to a bolt, by using the metal grommet application kit, that I bought at an ACE hardware store. I use the punch in the kit to make the hole, then I seal the webbing around the hole by either melting it with a soldering iron or better yet with CA adhesive. Using the CA doesn't enlarge the hole like the soldering iron does & the CA soaks into the webbing around the hole making it solid, then I crimp in the metal grommet.

+1 on the ROK straps. I have a set which I used on my Concours and continue to use on my Spyder. They are excellent. Like bjt, I also have a couple of cargo nets which are very useful, especially for odd-shaped loads.

Oh, and +1 on your snow sentiments, Scotty! I don't know if it is just because I am rapidly getting older, or because of the amount of snow we have gotten this winter, but I am sick and tired of it too. Of course, I was ready for spring about three months ago.

Cyanoacrylate (super glue, crazy glue, instant glue, etc.).

Sorry, I build & fly model airplanes and in that hobby we use the term "CA adhesive" so frequently that I tend to forget that not everyone would know what that means.
