• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Can-Am Spyder F3 Auto Club Speedway Record

That was fun. ...

Wonder what the nanny was thinking...?? My VSS tends to come on if I don't make cute manuvers on those long sweeping banked curves...:banghead: Nice to know we are up there on ovals....

Nice, but I really think that with the initial acceleration that these things have, that they should have a top speed of atleast around 135 mph or so (150 would be better). I understand that they are not made for top speed, but I just expected too much.

I was surprised that he was only wearing his racing suit. Good thing he didn't do a get off. Wonder how long before someone does it on a GP bike and smokes that record?

They have the aerodynamics of a barn door.
Wind resistance increases exponentially; as the speed goes up. nojoke

Believe me, I know that aerodynamics makes a big difference. I have raced my ford lightning on a couple of occasions and it is like a brick. But that should not be an excuse if you are attempting to demonstrate a top speed and intend to impress people.
Don't get me wrong, I like my spyder, and have never topped mine out, but it would be nice to think that I could keep up with most cruisers on a top end battle.

Then look at it this way: It's geared lower, for more bottom-end "grunt".
That means that the top-end is going to be limited in some manner...

Could they have snuck in some Aero-help for that bike?
Sure!
But they didn't.
It was a bone-stock, no tricks, run what ya brung, pin-yer-ears-back test! :D

two things, one, the bike came from the can am team, so i wonder if it was tweaked a little..... second, if he used a red bike, he could of gone faster, after all, we know red bikes are fast

Lots of fun. I am a member of The 100 MPH Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway. 125 mph on Gl1800. Respect the dog leg!:riding:

Jeffrey Earnhardt should race the F3 instead of the race car, maybe he would not always be among the first one to go a lap down.

Neat video. Guess I had better see if all 100lbs of me can do 123mph on my F3S. It's not all that much faster then I have already gone.

That thing has the aerodynamics of a brick. Wonder if a Spyder will ever contest the salt flats at Bonneville and see what it can really do? I think an RSS with some aero tweaks and streamlining might be faster ??

It has already been done a SL member, years ago. If I remember correctly, DocDoru set the record at around 126 mph. I think it was '10 or '11. He had a Turbo on his GS.
