• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can-Am Comfort Seat

Can anyone confirm that the Can-Am Comfort Seat (part # 219400416) is leather or vinyl? I see it advertised as "Leather" by 2 ebay sellers while other sellers make no mention of it being leather at all. I read the copy from Can-Am which describes it as "stitched skin" which would make you think that it is real leather - but it does not refer to it as such. If it is real leather it would appear that it is a real bargain compared to other leather seats.
Thanks,

Not real leather. Real leather is not a good thing for motorcycle seats that are going to be exposed to weather. Rain and sun will cause the leather to dry out and become stiff and cardboardy. Waterproofing items are usually not compatible unless you use neetsfoot oil--which darkens any light leather considerably--not for use on suede--period.

There is a sueded leather seat that is coming out with the new F3...time will indicate if that is a good idea or not. I would not have a suede leather seat on any motorcycle.

The comfort seat is a good seat compared to the OEM seats up through 2013. I am still using the OEM on my 2014. Not a perfect seat but better than previous OEM versions.

Sat on the suede seat on the F3 Saturday. I know lots of folks were concerned it was suede and getting wet. I haven't seen suede like this. I'm okay with it on mine.

un-comfort seat

vinyl. your stock st seat is more comfortable than the ''comfort '' seat. been there, done that.

Suede is this a throwback from the 60's:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:.

Suede was pretty popular in the 60's. I outfitted many hippies with their suede, beads, leather, and buckles. Graaaaaaavvvvvvvyyyy, er groooooooovvvvvvvvyyyyyyyy :roflblack::roflblack:

You will have to give us the beta test results in a few months. They may have some new kind of treatment in manufacturing--but I have not heard anything about it.

Thanks Cuz

Thanks you Cuz. I doubted the claims on ebay that it was leather.
I personally prefer a seat that is both more comfortable than the stock seat on long rides (although the stock ST seat is not bad), is more stylish, and is leather (at least on the seating surfaces). I hear all of the benefits to vinyl, but I have had leather seats (mostly Corbin's) on my Harley's for at least 20 years. I think I will end up with another Corbin or a Russell Day Long. Right now, I am leaning heavily toward the Russell. I really like the look of the Day Long solo with the spider web stitch pattern, and see nothing but positive comments on their comfort. The downside is sending them my stock seat and going 3 to 4 weeks without riding. Probably wait until the middle of December. To be continued-------
