Buy New or Keep Old ???

Curous how many others here are or have ordered the 10th besides Bob Denman?

For those that had a Spyder and are replacing it with another, was that easy?

And for those that thought about this what are your thoughts.

Yes, I am fortunate to pay cash, but know my money does not grow on trees.

Last year I treated my self to my favorite truck I always wanted.

I am having a difficult time of letting go, It is so tempting
to order the New Anniversary edition. I have always loved
black bikes. This new one is the same as my 1978 smokey
and the bandit trans am I had.

This new engine the 1330 is way more powerful from
the test rides I have taken, however the shocks seemed
a little bit less than what I have on my current bike.
Contributing to this is that the stock RT does not have
a forward footrest position. So therefore when riding
and even more so in twisties you need to grip with more
of your thigh and knee muscles (hope that makes sense) This
is easily correctable with the right Highway peg.

I have no complaints of how my 990 is currently running.

Current Bike 2010 RTS Premiere Edition premiere editions were outfitted just like the Limiteds today

Ordered with CB/Entertainment harness
Garmin Zummo 660
XM satellite radio
Trailer Hitch

Added:

Corbin seat with back rest & fuel door and passenger armrests
Diamond R floorboards-leg position just like an F3
Changed digital display to show water and fuel bars
Added digital volt meter
Added digital oil pressure gauge- currently not working all the time
Added Works performance shocks-
Custom dynamics 3rd brakke light
Magic Man LED mud flaps and bright sides LED front and rear
All original grey parts painted Timeless black or chromed
Battery tender ready

Anniversary 2018 Edition RT Limited

CB/Entertainment harness
Garmin 590
xm satellite radio- is it easy for my other one to be removed and installed?
Trailer hitch- will my RT622 trailer hook up to this?
will have added some sort of highway peg/small board foot rest
Comfort Seat with backrest

Can you convert display to digital water & fuel bars?
If so will add volt and oil gauges.
3rd Brake light with matching gold instead of chrome top
All plastic amber or red lenses converted to LED

Have just a week left to decide, or miss out on $500 and 2 year extended warranty.

When I got my premier it came with an iPod, and if you got the trailer at the same time a leather jacket (which I did not) bought trailer 6 months later.

Decisions to pay dealership to remove items that can be and install on new bike.
For some reason I want to only pay MSRP, no added freight or dealer prep for the extras.
Plus all the headaches that come with negotiating. :gaah::trike:

When I started this was leaning 75% to get and 25% to keep what I have

Now i am currently at 25% to get new and 75% undecided.:helpsmilie:

Going to dealership tomorrow.

08DAYS 01 HOUR : 07MIN. . : 40SEC.
OFFER ENDS JULY 15, 2017

:D I just can't resist throwing this one onto the table! :D

Getting rid of a bike that you've grown so attached to, is NEVER easy! nojoke
(If I told you what happened when I left my 2010 at the dealership: you'd know how much of an old softie I am!)
You've got your 2010 set up beautifully, and the 2018's wish-list seems equally imressive!
Look upon this as a chance to create great NEW memories, and it makes things easier!

Either way: you really can't lose!

Go for it, or wait and get an 18, or make a smoking deal on a leftover 17. I'm not into the anniversary decals, paint etc. but making the jump from the 998 to the 1330 alone if worth it.

I am waiting for 18's to be introduced because any 16's leftover will be priced nicely

Five years ago, I would have jumped on the 10th Anniv. Edition. I always had to have the newest and best, and it did not take much to get me there.

In my older (wiser? :roflblack:) age, the income is no where what it was. So far, they have not done enough to entice me to trade either of my :spyder2::f_spider:'s. One is the 998 version and the other the 1330 version.

I do not like the ergos of the F3. To dude it up like an RT--it costs more than the RT. Win, win, for who? I also paid cash for my last two cars and the 2014 Spyder. My recent purchase, the Vulcan, is on an installment at 3.25% just to keep up my credit rating. I can pay it off in a minute if I need to.

It's way past time for a re-do of the RT. Changing the paint, or adding some chrome just is not worth my paying out another $13K or so, with trade.

I am happy with what I currently have, so am not on the buy list at this time. 18 is already in the works so it will most likely be 19 for a re-do on the RT at the earliest. And--those who paid what I am guessing is extra bucks for the anniv. may see their value plummet. :bbq::bbq::bbq: There's my .02, errrrrrrr make it .03. :roflblack::roflblack:

would love to hear when you have time.

love these trucks, my Dad has the same one G63 AMG. I wish he would change his exhaust to be louder :banghead:

Yes AMG, My exhaust is pretty loud when I step on it and have the window down.

This will be a 2018, so anything new for the 2018 RT limiteds, this will have, They have great deals on 2017's, just not interested plus they don't have black maybe 2019's will be different.:dontknow:

I was not in the market for a new bike, satisfied with what I have, but then ..........

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts i will actually re-read your post several times,

I don't need a new Spyder, the one I have is running great with 60K on the odometer. The last 2 years I have only put about 6K miles as I have not gone on any big trips. My wife no longer wants to ride ( her excuse ) as we have 2 small dogs instead of one that we had before.

She does want to when we retire in 6 years is to sell everything and get a kick ass motorcoach and travel the country, would like to also pull or carry a spyder as well.

I usually do a lot of research to where all my questions are answered to the best that I can make. My current communication system which is tethered to the BRP helmets is shot. Thats important if I am gonna ride across country. I need to study and investigate Sena 20 or 30 and one other brand.

Right now I feel I am reacting on impulse, and with a dead line looming. Whats an additional 2 years of best warranty worth, $500 :dontknow:

 There may be a winning solution hidden right there:clap: Keep what you got & get her one, :dontknow: No worries about the existing trailer, dont get rushed into the sales pitch deadline the "savings" are just a line. You have a good list of future farkles & already a happy loaded bike, IMHO Find what communication system works best for you & enjoy:yes:

Personally I cant consider getting rid of mine till 100k miles. Just what I feel my investment should reach before I'm done with it. I got lucky enough to have still keep my last bike & just got 43k miles on it a '06 Yamaha road star & only 35k miles on spyder that I ride more:popcorn:

Tough one...

It's lonely at the top....:roflblack: but you have a lot of good points made here and I wish you luck. Just remember on this one you have time (except if you want the anniversary edition/deal)...

I ordered the new RT 10th anniversary, just this week.

Contrary to Bob's dealer, mine says I should get it in September, we'll see who's right, for some reason, I'm more incline to believe in December.

I get to continue riding my current 2014 RT Ltd until then.

I don't like the colors and trim but, most important, I don't have enough mileage on my current Spyder to justify trading.

:congrats: :2thumbs:
My Dealer DID originally say September, but they back- tracked to a later date. :banghead:

I hope that yours is correct!

This thread is getting long, I haven't read all the comments, but I'm sure SOMEONE here has made this comment before:

DO IT
DO IT
DO IT

The 10th anniversary badging may not hold a lot of value, but going from the 998 to the 1330 is an excellent upgrade and well worth doing, even if you find a used 2014.

As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.

Thank you all for your welcomed opinions and advice. With two days left................ to get a great deal,

was not able to get the dealership to either accept my offer or even counter offer, not going to wait to have them on the 15th make a last minute offer. it also did not help that my

current spyder is just the way I like. Yes the 1330 is a great improvement but will wait and see if there is a major cosmetic change forthcoming.

I am a big fan of the anniversary colors. Show stopper looks for the entire spyder line. They will be rare. Hope they come numbered like my brothers Victory where only 150 were produced.

Had a few sleepless/tossing and turning nights over this decision, but alas feel that at this particular time I will not be the proud owner of the anniversary edition.

There will still be a new Spyder RT in my future, just not at this particular time.

To Bob Denman and all the others, who are awaiting :firstplace: and see you on the road :riding:

You are right: your 2010 is a real winner! :2thumbs:
You made the right choice! :firstplace:
(Now go buy your RT something fancy: it has earned it! :D

You could work with other dealers, even if they are distant. I'm sure you could get an acceptable deal if you checked around.

Or just wait. In a year or so, you may be able to find a used one, anyway!
