• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Okay, so obviously I am not very technical/mechanical. But I am somewhat handy, and can RTFM when necessary. Here's my situation, in my own uneducated/untechnical words:

2008 Spyder (premier edition)
On the front right fender, the piece that holds the fender above the wheel and houses the electronics literally busted in two pieces. It's the piece that "y"s away from where all the wiring comes out and then to under the fender. Hopefully that makes sense. I have pictures but I can't get them to upload from my phone. It's not that anything came loose or broke at a joint. The metal literally broke in two. It keeps the fender from rubbing the wheel.
After "splinting" it with several allen wrenche and a bunch of zip ties so I could get home, it is functional, for a while...


So my questions are:
Has this happened to anyone here?
What was your suspected cause?
What was your permanent fix?
What did it cost?
Did you do it yourself or have your dealer/shop do it?

And how do I know if the other one will bust? Other than the obvious of just doing a visual inspection on my own?

This has happened to me and several others as well its hollow tubing pretty thin I just found a solid medal piece that fit in side and welded it now its a solid piece not hollow
 
It would seem to be an easy job to remove the fender, and replace the bracket... :thumbup:
It's just a bunch of bolts on each side, and then unhooking the wiring.

Yeah..!!

seen it here before. If not covered then inserting a solid piece and re-welding it, as mentioned, would be the way to go. No real explanation as to why but the one I remember said he did ryde some rough roads daily. As to cost depends on if you pull the part and paint it when done and who does the welding...good luck..!! :thumbup:
 
The fender bracket can be repaired by fitting a reinforcing sleeve or inserting a reinforcing rod, then welding or epoxying the reinforcement and break. It ccould also be replaced. It has happened to a number of owners. Bad roads or having the suspension set quite stiff can be contributing factors.
