Burn Rubber Smell

After 100 Miles trip with trailer, I smell burn rubber at idle.
I look everywhere and but cannot locate where smell is coming from other than somewhere in mid to rear section.
No sign of smoke or rubber wear.
I drove back home with raise rear shock all the way but still smell pretty strong.
Does anyone has any idea? 2013 RT with 3300 Miles.
Thanks

Could be any of a multitude of things. But with a 2013, look first at master cyl and evaporate canister. Have you had the recall done? Is it definitely burning rubber or burning plastic? Slightly different odor but close enough for cross diagnosis.

I had a burning plastic smell once on a 2010, but it was only a zip tie that had come loose and fallen against the exhaust. Smelled scary as heck, but it was a simple fix.

If it is related specifically to pulling the trailer, then it should be easy enough to find with a thorough inspection.

So since it could be any number of things, the only real solution is for you (or dealer) to pull the Tupperware and go a'hunting, if you can't find something trailer specific.

I do have recall paper for my RT, but I haven't got it done yet.
I was going to wait till 3600 mile service, so I only need to make one trip to dealer (about 150 miles).
Meantime, I am taking apart and look for any wear sign around master cylinder.
Thanks

I recently had my complete exhaust system off and found a great deal of belt dust burnt onto the catalytic converter, could be just that simple. Pulling a trailer could generate a little more belt dust?

Best laugh I had today....

Please take it to your dealer ASAP!
Imperative
Recalls are nothing to play with.
With a gazillion posts and articles about the 2013 overheating (complete with posted pictures for those who cannot read); with the knowledge pulling a trailer is likely to cause the engine, etc. to run even hotter then under normal circumstances; with a recall letter in hand; why are you fine folks giving him advice?

Sucks he would be having problems with his Spyder with so few miles - but you can't ignore the body of evidence and figure you will get it fixed on the next trip to the dealership.

As you now know..!!

don't delay recalls. That is why they are recalls. While there have them check for that smell. Once had that problem but come to find my passenger was resting her foot on the pipe. Walked with a limp the rest of the trip..!! :roflblack: but otherwise back track installations, if any, for the trailer. Peer about for any rubbing parts or cables hoses touching pipes...good luck..!! "get'er done"..

First sign smelling something burning, second sign seeing smoke. If you get to the second sign be sure you are prepared to bail out in a hurry. Believe me I know what I'm talking about.
