There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For a contrasting method watch this video. It's not a time lapse but segments chained together. The Finns introduced log cabin construction to the new world back in 1638. There are a few notable differences from the method used in the video in the OP. The Finns hewed the logs flat on the outside to better shed rain and snow. The logs don't rot nearly as quickly then. They hewed the underside of each log to fit the contour of the log it rests on using only grass or moss to seal the space, which is already tight from the hewing. Finns did not chink their logs. If you happened to notice in the video above after he had all the logs stacked you could see gaps between some of them. The comment that has been made of the Finnish method, "You don't see any daylight between the logs." In fact you'd have a hard time slipping a knife blade between them. The old time Finns dovetailed the logs together in the corners, instead of round notching them. Many Finn log cabins over one hundred years old are still standing!
However you build a log cabin it requires skill. The Finns not only were skilled, but when they finished a cabin it was a work of art.
