• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. BRP RT Seat Cover

FWIW, I learned today that BRP has a rain cover for the RT seats, PN 219400722. I have not seen it in the catalog so called to inquire. Got the PN verbally from them. In the online store it is listed as a new item, price $99.99. Yup, pricey as is all BRP stuff.

Maybe a large trash bag Jay. Pop up seat, tuck the sides and front under, close seat. (don't forget to remove before riding or it may look a little 'cheezie")

We used this method on our Harley's and to cover soft luggage when it rained. Also doubles with a little ice as a beer cooler!

:hun: Why would you want to mess around with a rain cover for an RT seat? Just carry a towel and wipe it dry after a rain, or after washing! :thumbup:The RT seat is like a Retriever - it likes to get wet!

Now, as for soft cover luggage as Jack mentions, that is a whole nutter' story! Large trash bags work good like he says!

:hun: .... how come your seat seams don't wet your bottom ........Vinyl is usually water-proof , but the seams aren't ..........jmho ..... Mike

I've been using a Genuine Cool Ass seat cover that, in its latest generation of material is waterproof but the manufacturer told me he could not advertise it as such. I have used it in some real toad strangling rain and, yes, it is waterproof but since it is primarily designed to protect the seat from UV rays and keep it cool in the summer when there are no asses on it, the material is cut in a generic fashion and when on an RT it prevents access to the glove box unless the seat is raised. The gargage bag is a good emergency trick but I wanted something more permanent and that looked like it belonged on a quality bike.

Someone here on SL very recently said the Spyder seats had a plastic layer between the foam padding and the upholstery. If that was true, who needs a rain cover? So I sent [email protected] a request to confirm the design and within 24 hours I received the following reply:

"Roadster seat foam outer surface is made of closed cell type meaning that water will not easily infiltrate in the seat foam. It does not act like a sponge but rather a high density material that doesn't allow water to fill up the air pockets. Seat stitching is not water-proof therefore the infiltration of water by the stitching is possible. Warranty does not cover seat replacement for water infiltration by the stitching. So we recommend you to place a water-proof cover over the seat."

The reply sent me to the BRP store where I got the PN shown in my first post. Like President Reagan used to say, "Trust but verify."

:agree: ...... " IF " I remove the vinyl from the front half of my seat ( to add some GEL Pad ) .... I will put a RUBBER sheet ( RV stores have this for roof repair , always flexible & waterproof & extremely thin ) over the foam/gel before I re-attach the OEM cover :clap::clap: ............. If the bike is sitting out and gets rained on hard enough to wet the seams that's the least of my concerns. What matters more is my helmet and mesh jacket will have been sitting on top to the seat. Wet mesh jackets are more uncomfortable than a wet pants seat. :roflblack:

I don't think I've ever really noticed wet seams. It's more like water staying in the tight space between the back and seat. And that's mostly after washing the Spyder which I only do on warm days when a wet seat isn't a problem! It's so dry out here in the summer everything dries fast.

That's so weird that they never advertised the seat cover. I never had an issue with my RT seat but I wear Gortex pants if its raining and if it has sat in rain overnight I've just wiped it off and all was good and dry.

I have absolutely no idea what this thread is about. Wet seats, rain, wet bottoms, wet jackets,.....???:yikes: We just don't have that here in Arid-Zone-A. OOPS, I forgot, I used to live in Seattle (for 60 years) I vaguely remember water falling out of the sky. But it is a distant memory. Perhaps in another 2-3 years that will be totally forgotten...:ohyea:
