how to get your spyder running again if you brake your key . i was playing around on the spyder today tryiing to figure out how to start the spyder with a broken key. i found out if you use a small jewelers saw from your local jewelry store ( about $2.00 ) you can pull out the broken key. i also had a spare key made it would only turn on the switch and would not start, i put the chip on top of the spare key and added a jumper wire and the spyder will start, now you can ride it to your dealer and have a new key made.

Cost of new key?

A previous thread about where to hide the spare got me to looking for mine. Can't find it and don't remember what I did with it. Old age does that all too often these days.

What is envolved in getting a duplicate and the cost?

The BRP key blanks usually sell for about 35 bucks...
You've got to get them cut for your switch...
...and then take it, and your "good" key to the dealer for programming. :thumbup:

Good job in Mcgivering your way out of that one. I have a question, I don't see the need for the jumper wire, did you try it without?

I made a dummy blank key for mine... Popped it in the igniton, turned it to get things lit up... once I touched the real key to it... :thumbup: Ran like the proverbial top! :2thumbs:
