• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello!

So I'm new to the Spyder - and bikes in general. Which didn't stop me from taking and passing my STEP class. And last week I got my bike - a brand new Quantum Blue Metallic 2012 RT-S (It had been on the showroom floor a while until I rescued it.)

I've been spending the week since I got it with practice rides and getting used to riding. (Okay, I've been using it as an excuse to explore parts of Snohomish and King Counties too)

So bear with a complete and total newbie as I get used to my new toy :)

Welcome! this is the place for all things Spyder. Find the threads that have advise for new owners, a lot of helpful information. Enjoy! Be safe.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I won't have *TOO* many silly questions along the way. In the week I've had the RT-S, I've put 336 miles on it with practice riding. I've also made some slight modifications (cargo nets, iPod holder, etc.) I have the 12v adapter for the "frunk", but the installation instructions are...daunting. Laptops and desktops I can repair easily. This? Well.....

One thing I've noticed is the gas mileage doesn't seem to be as good as I was expecting. I'm hoping that this is just part of the break-in period.

Otherwise, having a blast riding it. One accessory I will need in the fall though. See, one of my hobbies is that I'm a curler. And somehow I suspect there should be a way for a Canadian-built motortrike to be able to transport a curling broom......

Welcome..!!

It's what we are here for..your mileage will improve but don't expect to much. Most run from 28 to 36+ but much will vary with styles weather and location as well as load. If you bought it for cheap transportation you missed the boat but the fun, smiles, grins and enjoyment will make up for it tenfold...!! :roflblack: once again welcome to this site and the roadster world..!!

Well, certainly not *cheap* transportation. *laugh*

I had figured about 30-35 mpg. What I have noticed is that I'll get about half way down on the fuel gauge, and then when I tank up, it only takes about a gallon or so. Last time I had the low fuel light come on, but it only took about four gallons. I figure when it comes in to Motoplex of Lynnwood for it's 600 mile check, I'll have them see if there's a problem with the fuel gauge.

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new ryde. You'll be happy you made that rescue.

And don't worry about asking stupid questions. Whatever you need an answer to is not a stupid question.

If you're comfortable with tearing into desktops and laptops, you'll be digging into the innards of the Spyder in no time! Just take it slow, follow directions (most of which are written pretty well) and holler HELP!! in here when you hit a snag or get in a bind...this is the best resource for all things Spyder there is! (Just don't listen to anything that Bob Denman says, and you'll be fine!) Oh, Hi! Bob!! :roflblack::roflblack:
