• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any thoughts on stopping brakes from squeaking, short of taking it to the dealer for a service. :dontknow:

There is a BRP fix for this under warranty that replaces the pads with a new compound.

Or alternatively you can place 3M 4611 or 4646 VHB tape on the back of the pads.

My understanding is that replacement of the pads with the new variety is at the owner's expense. BRP's s authorized fix consists of cleaning the brakes, and use of CRC Disk Brake Quiet, or at least it did before. My advice is to use the brakes hard periodically, and clean them when that no longer works with brake parts cleaner. The use of Disk Brake Quiet or the 3M tape is more permanent, but requires dismantling the brakes.

Thank you for the service bulletin info...this is gold...when I go in for service, I don't want to hear the typical excuses as to why I'd have to pay for it...

Any more bulletins out there?

Please note that the service bulletin says that brake pads are available, it doesn't say you don't have to pay if your Spyder is a 2008 vehicle, or a 2009 outside the designated range. The list of covered machines only applies to 216 2009 Spyders, the way I read this bulletin.

I guess i am going to try the cleaner and disc brake quiet first.....I really would rather not have to take it in to the dealer if i can avoid it. It would probably be like one of those old mastercard commercials.....

labor:...... $150.00
Misc cost: ....$75.00
days in service:.....3

Having some guy work on the bike that has no idea how to service it.....Priceless :yikes:

Doesn't Disk Brake Quiet go on the back of the pads? :dontknow:
So since you have to have the pads out anyway you might as well put on the 3M tape or alternatively have the dealer ship you a set of the new pads and put them on.

If you're going to do the work at least make the fix permanent.

Neven though I usaly replace pads myself mine were completley fried around 9000 and kept complaining from the begining they were replaced all around full warranty parts and labor so do some checking the way I see it it's there problem not yours

This says it is just a service bulletin and not a warranty bulletin. Just talked to service guy and they are not covered, he says... I say :bdh:poopie..

brake pads

Just had the pads replaced on wife Spyder last week and they did not charge me.We bought the bike the second week of September so it's a 2008. Just so you know! Of course they are growling now instead of squeaking!
