Brake light stuck on

Parked the RT Limited in the garage, turned off the light and noticed the brake light was on on the bike. Tried everything and finally pulled the fuse so it wouldn't run down the battery.

Any ideas on what the problem is and the solution??

Mine stay on for about 15 to 20 seconds and then shut off on their own.

Yes, headlights and computer shutdown take about 20 seconds after key is shut off. I never did look at the tail lights--but that sounds logical also.

My 2011 RT Limited would do that and the lights would stay on so I would lift the brake pedal and the lights would go out. Dealer replaced the spring and the problem went away.

The running lights stay on for 15 to 30 sec, but the brake lights (apart from the taillights) only function when either the pedal is applied or the switch is stuck/misadjusted.

Spring recall

There is a brake pedal return spring recall for all 2011's to replace the spring with a heavier one that returns the pedal better.

At least that is how the tech described it to me when they upgraded my RT last week.

I had taken it in for a bad cell in the battery and they told me about the spring upgrade. From what I can understand no notice was sent out, they will just check your VIN number when you take it in for servicing to see if the bike is on the list.

The spring recall was handled by the dealer prior to delivery.

The only warranty bulletin that I am aware of for a brake spring is for the parking brake. The return spring on the rear drum is to be replaced. This does not affect the brake pedal or brake lights.
