• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Bought the Bluetooth Dongle (Wish me luck)

I did some calling and looking around for the Bluetooth dongle. I wound up buying the Bluetooth dongle off EBay for much less than the dealer quote of $250 plus $17.81 tax and a 60 mile round trip drive when/if they got one. I got it dropped at my door for $212 tax free and free delivery in the Can-Am box three days after I ordered it. Why some dealers sell for less or price match I just don't understand.:dontknow: My local dealer wouldn't price match and warned me that the EBay part won't have a factory warranty. They also didn't have it in stock and said they would have to order it or find a dealer with it on the shelf.
Now I just have to find the time to install it and get it all to work. I have Sena headsets that “should” work and the Garmin Zumo 660 GPS that should also work with it. I just need to find a good how to video/walkthrough to use on the install.
I guess I need to update this, what I bought was the Can-Am Bluetooth Dongle part number 219400458. It retails for $250 and includes all the Can-Am specific parts needed for the install.

Bluetooth Dongle

If you bought the Sena SM10 dongle and you want it to work with the SMH10 Headsets, call Sena Support @ 866-300-1235. They are great, will walk you through all of the setup andit might take 10 minutes. They also helped me pair up with the Garmin 660 Zumo nav system so that I hear directions through my helmet speakers as I am riding. BTW Garmin support is great as well. Go to their website & download Garmin Express which will then get you any current updates. Hope this helps.

Hopefully it will work with SMH5 headsets that I bought for my other bike. If not I'll be buying another set. :sour:

The BRP dongle IS the SM-10.
One piece of advice.
Before installing or pairing any of your Bluetooth devices, make sure you have the latest firmware installed.
DAMHIKT.

The Sena SM10 is compatible with all headsets that use the A2DP BT protocol. That means almost all headsets brands and models.

Things to keep in mind before installing. The SM10 is powered through the radio and only when the radio is on. If you don't turn it off at the end of the day the internal battery will be dead the next time you want to use it and won't work until it charges for 20 minutes or so. I am currently powering mine with the 12V adapter that comes with it. The 12V outlet is hot all the time so the SM10 is on all the time. It works well that way. I did install a hot all the time power line so the 12V outlet would be free but it is electrically noisy and plan on fixing it this winter.

I got it all installed and of course it doesn't work. The actual install went fairly easy (The Can-Am instructions provided are almost worthless) for someone pretty unfamiliar with working on the bike. The headsets work and will talk to each other through the SM-10 and I can hear a MP3 player through the headsets. The SM-10 and the SMH-5 headsets paired up very quick and pretty easy.
What doesn't work is the SM-10 when hooked to the Spyder; I can't hear anything from the bike. I can hear the MP-3 player when attached to the SM-10 and its plugged into the bike in the Aux port.
What I can't hear is the radio or GPS. So either I connected the plugs wrong (idiot proof) or it doesn't work, or something is setup wrong. The entire setup was new in an sealed and unopened box so I doubt it was a used or bad product. I have tried every setup option in the setup menu and I don't get as much as a pop in the headsets. I have searched this site and Sena site and a couple more long Google searches and can't figure anything out. I started this project at 3 pm and at 1030 pm it still doesn't work; I'm giving up for the night.

I did 1/2 of what you want

My Garmin 660 paired instantly. All I did was follow the instructions from the (downloaded) Garmin manuel, then the instructions from the Sena manuel and that part worked perfectly and has continued to do so. I don't use the radio enough to care, so can't help with that. I would suggest perhaps trying to hook them up seperately.

First, the headsets pair to each other directly, and don't go through the SM-10, so the headsets function independently.

I'm trying to understand what your saying about the MP3 player.
Are you saying you have plugged the MP3 player into the auxiliary input in the trunk, and you hear the music in your headset ?
Or are you saying you have the MP3 player plugged into the auxiliary input of the SM-10 and the SM-10 is plugged into the bike?

Here is what I think you should have:
The MP3 is plugged into the auxiliary port in the rear trunk. This puts the music into the Spyder audio system.
The SM-10 is connected to the bike with the BRP cable. The BRP cable has two connections. One is a USB that plugs into the SM-10 for power.
The second is a 3.5 mm female jack. You need a patch cord to go from this jack into the music input of the SM-10.
The SM-10 then transmits the music to the headset that it's paired with.
The SM-10 needs to be powered for at least 20 minutes to develop enough charge for it to work.

I'm not sure if this is of any help.

It all started working after I figured out it took the other plug. It came with two plugs one with a 4 part connector (never saw or heard of one before) and a normal 1/8 stereo jack. Since the instructions included with the system doesn't give any input on which one to use I was using the wrong one. Now my phone, radio and GPS all works.
