• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Boston and back

I did my first longer distance ride on the 2012 RT last week. All went well for the 720 or so miles (360 miles there and back) but, I must say I would not do it again, at least by myself. Three hundred sixty miles of highway is totally boring regardless of what you ride. I have a friend who belongs to the "iron butt association and he loves riding huge distances in record time non-stop. His first was 1000 miles in 24 hours followed by 1500 miles in just over that(it all sounds very dangerous, since there is little or no time to sleep during these rides). I do not see how anyone can stand going any sort of distance on strictly highways. Perhaps if I had someone along it would not had been so bad.

On a plus note, I did average almost 34 miles per gallon. That includes Boston where I only got 27MPG on that tank full.

I am curious what others experiences have been when riding this distance on highways alone?

I try not to do highways unless I have too, Going to stamford from MA I normally take route 6, 395 to Merritt Parkway, only adds about 20 minutes to the journey.

Americade I went mostly back roads and I think I did a total of about 20 miles high way, SITA, will be mostly back roads through Keene NH into VT then in NY.

If I have too, I make sure I have enough music to listen too or a good audio book, stop every fill up 130 miles or so drink lots of water, try to keep a positive attitude.
