Body Parts

I was riding next to a semi with boulders, when it let one loose. It was the size of a football. It bounced off of the road, hit the edge of the frunk and left headlight, deflected up into the left side mirror housing, and flew over.

For a split second, I thought I heard the :spyder2: grumble, "get off me, pal!"

Luckily, no major damage. Just a scratched headlight and edge of the frunk.

My question, though, is: Are body parts readily available, and do they come pre-painted?

:shocked: It sounds as if you were fortunate! (Relatively speaking!)
You can find parts on EBay pretty often, and Spyders have been around long enough, that some parts might be hitting the motorcycle salvage websites by now.

My RT was a dealer demo and had a minor ding on the front bumper area. The new part was ordered and arrived at the dealer in about a week. It was factory painted.

you can order them from BRP (dealer) or cheapcycleparts.com for better prices and stock. You can search the web ebay etc as well. There are search engines that cover the states coast to coast in slavage as well.
Glad you are alright and the spyder is not to badly injured...:thumbup:

Were you riding alongside the semi, or passing it? If you were staying alongside it that is a big NO-NO exactly because of what happened to you. In a motorcycle rider training course called No Zone training this one warning is stressed very, very strongly.

When you are on a motorcycle there are three places on the road you DO NOT want to be: Behind a semi; alongside a semi; in front of a semi. If you need to pass a semi stay behind in the adjacent lane until the way ahead is clear, then kick it in the a** and get around that semi as fast as you can.

Road gators, and rocks, that come flying off the tires can kill, and they have.

If you were passing the semi when this happened then you suffered an unfortunate luck of the draw. Glad nothing worse happened.

Glad you are OK!! I also kick it in the A$$ when passing semis. I have seen tire separation several times and it would be ugly on a bike! You are very Blessed to have not been hurt or killed!!

I should've been more clear.... We were on a multilane highway that was coming to a red light. I was passing the semi on the right, in the right turn lane.

We were all slowing down, but probably going 25-30mph at the time. I still could've taken it to the noggin, but the specially designed aerodynamics of the Spyder cleared it right off.

I definitely stay clear of semi's, but there was no choice in this instance.
