• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Big Thanks to Chaynes68 - SE5 Risers Installed

Chaynes68 ... thanks for all your photos , drawings etc. I just completed the 4" riser install on my SE5. You're right about getting to those 2 tie wraps in front - they were challenging. After I cut those 2 , I had plenty of slack. As far as the risers themselves are concerned. There were only 2 issues that I think may have already been address on other threads
1) Since the spacers are different on a SE5, the pre-drilled notch in the new bars don't line up to the plastic pin in the control housing - Just have to drill another notch a little further down.
2) Either the recessed hole in the bottom riser clamp is not wide enough or the hex bolt heads are too big - Take your pick. They will go in but the hex bolt head starts seizing against the bottom of the recessed hole and doesn't allow the clamp to fully tighten - even when the bolt is tightened to the max ... and I mean max. I just took the 4 riser bolts, my bench grinder and took off 3 smidgens off the diameter of the hex bolt head until it would rotate smoothly in the recessed hole without binding up.

Aside from the little "challenges", everything else went pretty well.

Now for the good part ....... these 4" risers make a world of difference ! I can sit up straighter, my hands aren't constantly going to sleep, seems easier to turn, legs don't seem to be as cramped etc.etc. ALL POSITIVES !

Actually, I don't see why Mr.Magic will have to redesign anything. Just make the groove in the new bars longer and check out the problem with the lower clamp / hex bolts.

AGAIN - THANKS CHAYNES68 !!!!!!!

Magic Man had at least 4 separate posts on the problem with the bolt heads of his first kits. The recommended solution was to sand, file or grind the ridges off the larger bolt heads just a bit, just as you ended up doing. I'm kind of surprised that you didn't see his posts. :dontknow:

I referenced that in my 1st paragraph - "...that I think may have already been address on other threads".
OOppps ...should have been "addressed" but the main intent was to give Chaynes68 a personal , big :2thumbs: for the photos, drawings and all the help that he ( or she ) provided. Knowing how the cables ran and which cable ties to cut was a HUGE help.

Okay, I guess I thought you meant you hadn't seen any of those. By all means, all props to Chaynes68. Those that can take a product designed for another vehicle or purpose and make it work for them and others deserve thanks. :2thumbs:

:nopic: Any chance of you posting a picture of the risers installed on an SE5?

My install looks exactly like chaynes68's photos of his / hers SE5. The existing SM5 risers will work as long as the controls are tilted towards or away from the riser. Just won't work vertically or installed straight up - Control housing and cables hit the riser. Tilted towards me like chaynes68's was PERFECT for me.
