What a day, I only made part of the Canyon Cruise, as I had a limp mode issue just as we were forming the 3 group lines.
So please others chime in on how the ride was for them. Started off with Art Wood ( Berts Mega Mall) welcoming all the Spyder Riders in attendance.
I arrived early and put my trailer next to the BBQ area as i didn't want to navigate the sharp canyon roads in tow.
Had a great time talking with old acquaintances and meeting new friends.
It was a pleasure meeting Fred Rau, but my dog DooLittle was receiving allot of attention as she was donning her new
Biker RT vest. I think Fred gave her an interview.
Different riding groups were given the opportunity to speak with the group throughout the day to promote their agendas.
Lou from WestCoast Spyders talked about an up coming event.
After the Canyon ride we had a Taco Bar BBQ that was delicious. Again Art Wood thanked everyone for having a safe ride,
And thanked the SRA club for coming up from SanDiego, WestCoast Spyder riders, Spyderlovers.com for their
valuable website communication network and even those in attendance who just like to ryde.
The photo below taken from a distance is L-R
Art, (not sure), Fred Rau, Ken5517/WishAgain
Then spyderlovers pincushion (George) who is President of the San Diego SRA Chapter got up and addressed the group and
his members during lunch. I didn't get any pictures during that as I was busy eating tacos! But here he is in the middle (photo below)
Berts Mega Mall had a RTS Limited on Display in our BBQ area and DooLittle wanted to pose with the T-Shirt she got
for attending her 2nd canyon cruise.:2thumbs:
So back to the troubles I had , as I was saying I had just started the bike up and it immediately went into check engine
light followed by limp mode. I turned her off and waited and restarted. Same thing so I asked Art what I should do, and
he said take it into the service dept. and ask Shawn to help take a look.
Went in there and wow I had 2 service techs jump all over the bike asking me questions about the symptoms and repair history,
not to get into a boring blow by blow they found thru buds that the oil sensor unit was malfunctioning ($12 part) and that
since I had gauges and was getting my 18K service before heading out to Spyderfest next week, that as long as I kept an eye
on the oil pressure I would be ok.
Major thanks to Kyle (service tech) above and Ozzie (service wizard specialist) below, and to Eric my Service writer
for keeping me informed. This service department is top notch.
They sent me on my way, to catch up with the group that had left an hour and a half ahead of me.
So of the 62 mile canyon run I got in about half of it, rather than none! Big Thanks to Berts Mega Mall service dept :thumbup:
For stepping up and taking the time to diagnose the issue.
Again I can't say enough about Art Wood putting this together. His enthusiasm is contagious. You can tell the
guy really loves his job.
And also a thank you to those that had nice things to say about that character "TicketBait" on Spyderlovers. It's kinda cool
when someone tells you they liked something you reviewed or helped them out in deciding what to get. I can't turn a
wrench very well, but love to shop and tell a story.
There are so many I wanna personally thank at spyderfest for their contributions. I really feel like I am in a huge
spyder family that loves what we ride. BRP also had a behind the scenes help in this wonderful day so two thumbs up to you too!:2thumbs:
DooLittle says she can't wait for Canyon Cruise III and other events that Berts Mega Mall (Proud Sponsor of SpyderLovers.com)
We never did get to try out her new doggles. maybe next time.
