• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Best way to clean a RT??

OK, it is that time now, Betty Boop now has over 1600 miles on her RT-S and we need to clean it...It is a given that Maguires is the best for the painted surfaces...But what is the best to use on the wheels? The flat black plastic?

I have both Flitz and Metal Gloss for metal but not sure which would do best for these wheels?

Can we use armor-all "TYPE" stuff for the plastic or is there something better?

cleaning

i used armor all on all black plastic. it looks great, nice and black but not too shiny. sidewalls too.:clap:your wheels are painted, yes?

It is a given that Maguires is the best for the painted surfaces - In a word - no.

Do a little research on Zaino. You'll see what I mean. They have great stuff for tires as well.

We use Original Shine and Cycle Brite on the whole bike. This is awesome stuff.
We sell lots of it in the store.

I like the Turtle Wax Ice products. They don't leave a white residue, so they can be used on anything. Once the Spyder is cleaned, and a coat or two of the Polish applied, it is readily touched up with their Detailer. For major cleaning I wash with water with a good car wash soap. For minor cleaning I dust with a California Duster, then use Windex Multi-Surface with Vinegar. (Never use the regular Windex with ammonia!)

The best way to clean an RT? Get somebody else to use their own elbow grease to clean it! :roflblack:
For serious cleaning I'll use just about any auto cleaning soap that is in the garage and follow it up with Pig Snot for the waxxing duties...
"Light lifting" is usually done with Lemon Pledge...

Greatest way to get rid of bug splats: clothes dryer sheet...wet Spyder/wet sheet...keep damp and literally wipe those nasty bug splats away. Then I wash with Turtle Ice...towel dry...apply Lucas for "plastic"...Lucas for all "black parts" except Corbin seat (that I use a high quality leather product)...I will NOT use any Armor All products...used to think it was the to do all product...but then started seeing issues with using it over the long haul on my vehicles (all tho the immediate looked great)...so quit long before Ms Spyder came under my care...
I do not spend a lot of time cleaning Ms Spyder...so have the greatest, easiest way I can find....do not want to waste ryding time doing show n shine....

Honda Spray Polish
:D:agree: The original was better then the current stuff (EPA or something) but it is still good, use it on everything but seat.
Some have been known to cover can with duct tape to prevent problems with can. More then one brand here.

I use the spyder wash that BRP dealers sell . I spray the RT S down with the spyder wash and then wait about 3 min then hose it off . I use Turtle wax Ice for the the whole spyder . No white residue left behind. For the tires I use Armoral but only the front tires and just a little bit on the side walls only.

Yes I know about Zaino, but it is not easy to get...The average person (me) can find it at Wally world....I would have to order Zaino...Yes it's good stuff...Didn't know they did tire stuff though!!

OK, I see all the ideas for cleaning the Spyder. I just want to know how you get at the rear wheel. On my RS, I would take off the bags and then - gag, how do I get in there? Hire a small kid with tiny hands?? ;)

I lay on the ground to get at the rear wheel and the muffler. You have to roll the Spyder a few times to get at each portion of the wheel. Skinny hands and arms do help.

.

On the rare occasions that i would clean the wheels on my Spyder i would put the wheel on a Rollastand, It makes it easy to spin the wheel by
hand without having to move the whole Trike.
Also it makes it a snap to lube the chains on my two wheelers.

Honda Shine in the spray can works great for cleaning. It is also a wax if you let it set a few minutes. I use this exclusively on mine, even the windshield! Takes bugs and bird doo doo off very easily! It's about $5.99 per large can! I use it on all parts including the wheels and tires.

Call me a curmudgeon, I don't understand people getting fancy cleaning their Spyders. It's just plastic. We're not talking lots of painted metal and chrome-- even clean and shiny, it's just clean and shiny *plastic*.

Me? I carry a can of Plexus and some microfiber towels. Gets pretty much everything looking 90% good.
