• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Belt Walking off sprocket:

We were going on a charity ride this past Sunday. Giving my 2015 RT S the once over I noticed the belt had moved to the edge of the sprocket. Since the ride started at a Can Am dealer I had them look at it. I had already scheduled the 3,000 mile service Tuesday anyway. Tech looked at it and said it would be alright to ride Sunday. When they looked at it on Tuesday the belt is chewed up in the middle and needs to be replaced. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Dropped it off Tuesday and would get it back until at least Wednesday. I am having them put trailer hitch while they have it apart. I have another ride planned for Sunday so I am renting a Tri-Glide. I have rented one before and sure missed Elroy( That's the RT's name). Anyway just wondering of anyone has had issues with the belt walking??

i am new to belts on a bike, all the other bikes i had either had chains or drive shaft. but i would think the rear wheel might not be on straight and that is causing the belt to slide over. if you take a measurement from the center of the bolts on the rear wheel, to a point on each side of the bike, you should be able to see if the wheel is straight. when the change the belt, i am sure they will align it right

Wow...!!

The belts do move around some but mostly if you run backward. They should not move when rolling forward. I am surprised they sent you out on your ride that way with the end result being a new belt...:yikes: getting the belt aligned and tensioned can be a chore at times...:banghead:

Agreed. The dealer should never have sent you on your way. You had an obviously misaligned belt. It is not that difficult for the dealer to check the tension and alignment with the tools they have on hand. This is a very costly mistake, I sure hope the dealer will step up to the plate and warranty it.

The belt is "chewed up in the middle"?
What caused THAT?
Even an alignment problem wouldn't cause that to happen; you might have picked up a rock, and chewed up your sprockets... :dontknow:

Belts

One of the things BRP could do to make the Spyder even better than it already is would be to change to a shaft drive. When I bought my RT last Oct. a friend of mine already had one and gave me a heads up on some of the quirks and situations to be aware of. As I began to put some miles on the Spyder I began to notice, what looked like a lot of brake pad dust on the rear wheel. The belt was right up against the hub. I took the bike back to the dealer in Tampa. They made the appropriate gap adjustment. Problem solved. No further belt drift.
