• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bearing replacement

I'm getting ready to replace my rear bearings I ordered them from the dealer 3 weeks ago. Are all parts slow or is it the dealer?
Has anyone used a bearing other than the dealer supplied? If so would you recommed them to us.
Thanks Gary

Bearings shouldn't be all that tough for the dealer to find... :gaah:
I'd look for them on EBay...
I don't know if anybody has looked for bearings that are equivalent; but not from BRP...
Happy Hunting!

You may try a place that specializes in bearings and they may be able to cross reference to another brand.

Ok thanks for the thoughts.

Better option to get parts is to go to the BRP Parts Store found on the right side of Spyder Lovers Home page. Just select your Model and do a search. They show availability and shipping is quicker than waiting for a dealer.

There is a thread somewhere on here about aftermarket bearings. I read it a few months back. Although as I remember you weren't getting a better bearing just cheaper. Again, as I remember.

Agreed -

Whenever I've needed parts, I just do as Doc suggested, and have always recieved them within the same week, always shipped from a dealer in TN somewhere and we did the bearing replacement last year. Don't forget about the seals and gaskets as well.

Don't bother looking for aftermarket bearings. I found the smaller ones, but the double row one is unique.

Good idea to order a set and just have them lying around in your shop.

You'll also need the special tool, or fab up your own to get the strange hub nut loose.

Not that hard of a job if you're good with tools and whatnot. I've done it a half dozen times.

Bearings

As long you get a bearing that has the same load rating, dimensions, seals or shielding your good to go. Manufacturers don't make their bearings they buy them from the bearing makers too.

We have some great site sponsors that have great online selling of parts.

I've dealt with:

Rob's Performance and Honda East Toledo.

Both stock a ton of parts and ship quick.

Just had my rear wheel, hub and sprocket powder coated. I got my bearings dust seals and you will need a new rubber O-ring as well, from BRP dealer here took about a week to get parts. The bearings are pretty easy to remove and replace but like Firefly has mentioned you will need to cut teeth out of an old socket to remove the Aluminum nut holding the wheel bearing in. Just be very very careful when you reinstall the aluminum nut you clean it good and re-apply loc-tite to the threads and start it by hand. Good luck
