Battery tender hookup?

Just got a new 14 RTS Ltd. I can't find in the manual the location of the battery. I'd like to set up an exposed battery tender plug. Anyone do this? Thanks!

manuals always have battery location. Now I see most are using the power outlet in the trunk to plug the tender into. If you don't have the plug you can get one then just plug into that outlet. If not set for constant power you have to switch your number 6 fuse to the number 7 spot...:thumbup:

the plug in the trunk is your best bet by far works grate and you dont need to add things to your battery.:thumbup:

Here is what I did to have power for heated gear as well as for hooking up my Battery tender. These are connected to the battery with inline fuses and provide direct power so it can charge the battery with the bike off.

The power outlet in your top trunk is NOT hot all of the time... :shocked:
But that is easily fixed by moving just ONE fuse...
The instructions for that ARE in your manual. :thumbup:

I plan on leaving mine hooked to the switch during the riding season, and then moving the fuse at season's end for the Battery Tender chores! :2thumbs:

Use the same plug in for Gerbings Heated Clothing or Battery Tender. (different short pigtails) Wired direct to battery as recommended by Gerbings and Battery Tender. 15 amp factory built in fuse. Use fuse of your choice

If you have a 2013 or 2014, it is real easy to hook the battery tender directly to the battery in the frunk, using the fused pigtail that comes with a battery tender. If you have the liner for the frunk, just zip the two ends of the zipper to the place where you want the cable to come through. That way it is always sitting there in a handy spot ready for use, and you don't have to use a 12V outlet, or move the fuse to the "always on" position. ( In my case, I kind of prefer the trunk outlet to remain in the switched mode.)
