• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery access

I need to hook up my Gerbings heated shirts[it's getting cold here near the Canadian border] but I can't see how to access the battery; the manual isn't too clear other than to say remove the rear panel.Looking for guidance; thanks in advance for your advice.

I don't have the pictures, but I believe that Lamont posted them here in a previous thread. Maybe you could PM him for some advice...

I would pick up your power here and run your ground to the bolt on the corner of the fuel tank.

Or you can pop just the cover on the battery off and hook your ground to it.

The small flat black plastic cover on the left side can be removed easily (one or two screws) to expose the battery. The neg post is totally exposed. Not sure you can reach the pos without removing the long body panel that runs from the front driver peg area back to the saddlebag. I just installed my Fuzeblock and I removed both. Also installed a Powerlet plug in the blank hole in the battery cover panel that also contains the heater grip switch. Fits perfectly. Can be used for any Powerlet style cable for power.

Remove the two screws at each end (seat open) unplug the harness that goes into the seat, then unstap the cover panel and pull out enought to access the electrical harness that goes to the passanger heat controls if applicable. Now the entire panel will come off. I have not tried to remove the battery but it appears that the large cover panel under the seat at the back woud also have to come off.

Randy

Gerbings gear is now hooked up thanks for the help ,particularly Lamonster with pictures-much easier install than it first appeared.

trickle charger hookup

Can i hookup a trickle charger lead like I did the Gerbings leads? I used the negative post after accessing the battery as Lamonster advised but can I use the same easily accessible positive post as Lamonster showed when he replied to my Gerbings inquiry or must I access the the actual positive post on the battery because what I am connecting is a battery trickle charger? Thanks for the help;particularly pictures from Lamonster.

Yes you can.

When I want to top up my battery I just plug my adaptor into the socket in the rear trunk.
Works anytime as it is direct to battery and not affected by ignition switch.
Just don't plug something in for power and forget it cos it will continue to pull power even with ignition off
Easy peasey.
cheers

Thank You Vyperyder this was exactly the info I was looking for easy setup for battery tender. I needed to find out if the socket in the rear trunk was always on. Thanks again
