• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BAD BATTERY

I had a bad battery only 10 vdc when load tested but 12vdc with no load, I watched Bob Finns video to get it out, what it does not make sense is that it would not start by jumping with my car or my battery booster XP1 . I thought I had other problems that I would have to take it to the dealer, but to my surprise I put in the new battery and the bike started right away. I had some codes which I cleared by taking the key out and waking away. Time to ride again.

:congrats: I'm glad to hear that you were able to find and fix the problem. :2thumbs:
His videos always seem to make the work seem less daunting; don't they? :D

If you had a shorted cell (very possible) then jumping it with that bad battery hooked up may not work as the short is taking down anything you apply to it. I assume you did not try to jump it with the battery unhooked as a test?
Either here nore there though since your fixed anyway.

Bob

Yes I tried to jump it without the battery too and it wouldn't start very strange because I knew it should have started

When my 2008 GS had a bad battery it would not start with a jump
But new battery fixed the problem

Hmmm, I was taught NEVER to try and jump start an EFI/computer controlled engine without a battery connected.... even if it was a dead battery it would be more likely to stop you frying the computer!! :yikes:

And I have seen a number of computers really fried after their owners tried jump starting without a battery wired up; but never seen a computer fried when the jump start instructions were followed properly, including keeping the dead battery wired in.

My guess is the jumper connections just weren't good enough to carry the necessary current from the jump battery.
