Well, I finally got my F3 just in time to head to Maggie Valley this week.
I've been trying to set this up since Spyderfest as WackyDan and I made a pact to come to the Smokies Rally on F3's. He got his a few weeks ago, I got mine last week.
This brings me back to how much I loved my first Spyder... Which was a 2008 Premier Edition that I put 80,000 miles on before a minor crash in 2012 on my way back from the Grand Canyon that bent the frame.
I had worked on that old GS so much I knew every inch of it and had built it up into a great touring bike that I could pull the bags off of for more of a cruiser around town. I missed that bike ever since the crash.
I then got into a 2012 RT and added enough to make it handle well and it felt great for touring... But I honestly just didn't love the bike. It was just 'okay'.
Once the F3 came out I knew I had to get one.
So I got a bare bones 2015 F3 last week and have had a blast getting it ready for my first trip.
Mods so far:
F4 windshield
Lamonster backrest
Short reach handlebars
GPS from old bike
Phone mount from old bike
Heated grips
Upgraded rear shock
Cruise Control
Givi V35 monokey saddlebags with a custom bracket setup that Maurice at MBL Innovations (a site sponsor) made for me. These brackets are amazing quality and look like a factory option.
This thing is a dream to work on.. So much easier to access than either of my previous Spyders. I'm excited again about riding and modding!
